My first experience of Glasgow was as a teenager, sleeping in a box shaped bed recess in the wall of a tenement building in the old Gorbals for a couple of weeks many decades ago.

At least in my case the accommodation was good, a rather nice hotel in Paisley. Well it would have been nice if it wasn't for the fights in the lounge.

Didn't all this change when they got to be European City of Culture? Swiftly followed by Liverpool, I think

It probably is all different now, they only used fists in those fights of long ago.
