48v Bafang BBS02 @36v?

For various complicated reasons I’m interested in running a 48v BBS02 @36v. I’d rather not get a 36v BBS02 since it will be run on 48v at some point in the future.

how limited would a 48v BBS02 @ 36v be?

wont you need to spoof the controller somehow to not go low voltage?
No experience myself with the bafang mid motors but are the controllers not internal and fixed voltage?
giving you what 42-39v before low voltage cut off?

The motors are designed to run at their rated voltage, the lvc will all be wrong. A 36v battery would show nearly empty on a 48v motor and one would soon hit lvc .
It makes no sense , just buy a 48v battery.

It might not suit you. It'll probably turn too slow. Crank drives are designed to give good power at 60 - 80 rpm and max out at about 100 rpm. At 36v, it would give good power between 46 and 61 rpm and max out at 76 rpm.

I was gonna suggest going for the 36v motor now and when/if you want to switch to 48v swap out the controller too, but a quick google to check prices suggests you could buy a hub motor for the cost of a mid drive controller! ouch!!
