My new forks have arrived and I think they will fit. My yose wheel ( waiting for rim replacement) seems to fit in.
I didn't realise I needed a set of fork bearings which I have now ordered from same supplier which is eBay Bulgaria..
Will update this thread with my progress.
Sorry about the production and presentation

Here I am talking about them

Update.

They are on. Run out of time so I need to check adjustment and fit mudguard.
I'll update this thread in a week but anyone wanting to fit discs to a 20 year old mountain bike with 25.4mm steerer ( 1inch) then copy what I've done.
You will need forks linked in this thread and a
bearing set from eBay supplier, mainly for the bottom bit that hammers on the fork. Bottom race I think it's called. I used 32mm waste pipe and hammer.
I used my old bearings etc.
I think the bb7 discs I bought are knock-off so buy hydraulic recommend here on forum imo.

Mine are. Definitely knock-offs calipers.
I'll upgrade to hydraulic at some point.
Ride in was good though.
Have you adjusted them properly? It's very important that you get the back pad at the right distance.watch your disc as you apply the brake. If you see it bend sideways, you need to adjust.

Ok. No. I haven't got it correct. I can't see the pads so guessed. Ill have a look tonight again. It's supposed to be ⅓ / ⅔ pad showing but I can't see anything much.

You screw the fixed pad (inside one) until it just touches the disc when you spin the wheel, then back it off until it doesn't touch. If your disc isn't flat, you can tweak it a bit with pliers to get the pad closer. The outside pad doesn't matter so much. All it does is affect how far you have to pull the lever.

The problem with cable brakes is that as soon as you start to use them, the inner pad wears and moves away from the disc, so the caliper has to bend the disc before any braking happens and that glazes the pads so they don't work so well. The main advantage of the BB&s is the rapid adjustment, but nobody does the adjustment, so they're as useless as any cable disc brakes.

Had another play with disc tonight and I think it's ok. Biggest problem is they are definitely junk knock-offs. Getting shards of metal and plastic breaking off.
I will burn through pads and get money out of them before upgrading.
Ordered some fork straps ( link on other thread here) for forks as I can't mount mudguard now with disc forks. Didn't realise untill tonight when I tried to fit.
I think they are correct size straps. Will update thread when fitted for others if they follow

To mount normal mudguards you could try these methods.

SKS mounting clips

P clip mounting

1. Cut some inner tube the same circumference as the top of the fork leg.
2. Put P Clips round the inner tube and feed mudguard eyelet bolt and nut through. You may to buy longer bolts, try original bolts first.
3 Put mudguard under the U bracket, either side of the fork U bracket put mudguard bridge brackets, put bolt through both mudguard brackets and tighten.
If you want you can put rubber sealant rings over the bolt threads and a piece of helicopter tape on the top of the fork U bracket
I found that without the inner tube under the p clips it was a bit loose and cause excess movement in the mudguard. You could also put a zip tie under the p clip and over the inner tube to give it more stability. Get p clips that have a rubber casing to give more protection to the fork. See links below to get an idea of what I mean

If you keep your eyes open, you can get Shimano MT200s for not much, especially if you are prepared to buy individual components when they come up. They are very reasonable performance.

I replaced my rear caliper the other day for £3.20!
