So, I switch on my eMate, as usual, and it starts powering the rear wheel intermittently when stationary. Enough for it to fall over this morning. It's not in Walk mode, just Eco mode, power level 6.

I have done nothing to the bike recently except bleed the brakes and change the tyres. The electrics were untouched, although I shall ensure that the motor cable is connected properly.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Do you have the throttle connected? If so disconnect it to see if the problem goes away. Maybe you have water in it or you damaged the throttle.

The zero throttle magnet needs to be right up against the hall sensor to give zero throttle. If the end-stop gets damaged so that the magnet can move further, you get a non-zero throttle signal.

There could be other causes, but you need to eliminate the throttle first.

Good point! The throttle isn't connected, BUT its yellow connector is hanging loose from the display & is exposed to the elements and it's been wet on my last two rides. The bike has been in a heated storeroom for the last 3 hours and it didn't activate when I just switched it on. I'll seal it off and see if that fixes things.

There should be a special blank connector fitted to it, or is it an old model Emate?

It used to have a throttle, but it wouldn't fit the bars I replaced the standard ones with. It is currently just dangling at the front of the bike rather exposed to the elements.

Can caps be got & from where?

I might have one somewhere because I've fitted a few throttles to them at the local ebike shop. I'm going there later, so I'll have a look to see if i put one in my box of stuff.

Thanks d8veh. I'd appreciate one if you manage to find it.

Thank you!

Whilst it is still needed, it appears that the issue is being caused elsewhere. The connector was bone dry yesterday, but the bike still wanted to wander off this morning. I assume it's down to the damp weather I've been riding in and ingress of water somewhere...

Have a look at the multi-pin connector on the main harness. I posted a thread the other day about that. I've seen two with corrosion in them.

The issue seems to have rectified itself, so I assume it was caused by water ingress somewhere that has now evaporated.
