David, besides my own interest, it looks as though I might have just steered someone towards the new KTM. He had thought about buying a BH, but we sat down today and had a lengthy discussion about what his requirements were, and I conceded that a mid drive system would suit his requirements better. He had looked at Haibikes last night on the internet, then I showed him photos of the KTM along with it's spec and RRP, and that was enough to convince him.
I'm still going to take him out on both of my bikes, just to show him how the motors are very different from one another, but as he still wants to feel as though he is doing the work, plus a requirement to cover distance, then I reckon the KTM will swing it.
One question that I couldn't answer though, was about warranty cover and what is/isn't covered, and also how long that the warranty period actually is.
If you could answer this, then I'll pass the details on.
