1/2 Twist Throttle no working

The Throttle on a Freego bike has stopped working. This is the 2nd. in 2.1/2 years. Our local Freego stockists is no more. Think the Red on\off switch is the problem. If I wired the 2 wires under the switch together would this work? If I did it in situ would it damage anything?

It won't do any harm to try.

you can get those throttles anywhere, except you might need to adjust the wiring to suit the Freego.

the switch is basically independent of the throttle. the throttle used three wires, two of which power it with 5v, and the third is the signal back to the controller. One of those wire is routed through the switch. When you buy those throttles from Ebay or Aliexpress, they have five wires, so to wire them in the same way, you can cut the red 5v wire and join each end to the two wires from the switch.

Well, I took the on/off switch out and saw there were only 2 wires connected to the block, although 3 goto the controller. Cut the 2 wires and connected directly together ignoring switch. Works fine.
