    Replacement Throttle for Powabyke MK1

Hello, I have a disabled friend who has a broken throttle on his Powabyke MK1. He relies on his bike to get to the shops and is beside himself without his bike working. Does anyone who of a replacement throttle he could use? He says he's tried all of the one on eBay and none of them are...

    Running a Powabyke Mk1 on 48V

Thank you for the info and advice and I'll do some investigations and check the MOSFET supply voltage et al. If I run a 40A fuse I'll be very careful to check the rest of the wiring to ensure that that will all be happy carrying 40A too....or fire may result!! I might have to up-rate the...

    Running a Powabyke Mk1 on 48V

d8veh: that's all good info, I'll do some investigation regarding the capacitors and if they look like they're rated below 48v I'll swap the controller for a 48V one but I bet they'll be fine. I stripped down the wheel when I first got it and took off the hall sensors and drum brake to fit it...

    Running a Powabyke Mk1 on 48V

Hi there, thanks for the response. I'm inclined to just try it as I have a few spae batteries from building the original pack. It's running with a 36V controller from eBay, Chinese, and I wonder how much more voltage that than take too. I think I'll do one of two things...a) take the wheel off...

    Running a Powabyke Mk1 on 48V

A few months ago I fitted a Powabyke Mk1 wheel to my mountain bike and recieved some great help here from many people as I stumbled through the initial install. Since then I have used it daily and love it....but, of course, my mind drifts to more power and speed (for my 'off-road' exploits!)...

My Motor Runs But There is No Drive!!! HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!

Yep, I've just checked the pictures Frank sent me and have noticed that the battery is connected up the other way round...woops. Yes, I know, I should have looked before I lept but I got excited and followed the plug connections...silly me. I'll buy a new controller and check before blowing...

    SLA Solution????

Took mine on a test run to work and back today and rode for an hour with no pedalling and covered 12 miles out of my 7.5 Ah pack. Fairly flat run with two hills but will equal ascent and descent.

My Motor Runs But There is No Drive!!! HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!

This is all good info thanks guys!! I think you're right, I've blown the board, and by the sounds of it the MOSFET. So, assuming I've been a dullard and connected the battery with reverse polarity I wonder how I did it. I wired a female kettle lead with battery +ve to the live terminal and the...

    SLA Solution????

Hi Bilko, I've just bought a 36V 250W Powabyke Mk1 which, by my calculations will draw 7A max. I'm making two battery packs from 12V 7.5 Ah SLA batteries (I bought 10 of them for £100 on eBay!). The first pack will be 36V 7.5 Ah and the second will be 36V 15 Ah (3 SLAs for the first and 6 for...

My Motor Runs But There is No Drive!!! HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!

Sorted! I took a punt and swapped the connections at the motor, I figured it couldn't do any harm (!), and away it went (after a few sparks and a little black smoke!!) !! Another problem is that as soon as I turned the controller on the motor runs. I've got it connected via an additional switch...

My Motor Runs But There is No Drive!!! HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!

I've bought a secondhand Powabyke Mk1 wheel, controller and throttle and have just fitted it to my bike. I've plugged everything in and when I switch it on the motor runs, despite the throttle being in the closed position, and I can hear it running nicely but there is no drive to the...

    POWABYKE Mark 1 Classic

I've just connected up my Mk1 wheel and controller to the battery and as soon as I switch it on the motor runs (even without any throttle on) but there is no drive to the wheel...anybody got any ideas?? I'm a bit stuck. I don't want to disassemble the hub motor unless I'm sure i need to. Any...

I took a punt and bought a cheap wheel and controller and it turns out to be a Mk1 kit so I'm very pleased to hear such great things about them!! I should have it fitted to my Rock Hopper in a week or so and can't wait to get pedelec-ing!! Thanks for writing on the forum as it has really...

    What Have I Bought??!!

Oh, and I've been quite impressed by some 7.5 Ah SLA batteries bought on eBay. I got 10 for £100 which will allow me to make a light short range 7.5 Ah pack and a larger 15 Ah for versitility. Nice!! Great fun!! :-)

    What Have I Bought??!!

That sounds like what I have got. No distinguishing marks except the part number which starts with '36'. I've managed to find pictures of Powabykes which have a similar set up (controller on handle bar, short battery cable and a similar looking wheel) and, combined with your advice, am pretty...

    What Have I Bought??!!

Hi there, I'm new to electric bikes and have just bought a secondhand wheel (with hub motor) which has contoller and throttle. It has no markings, branding or any identifiable markings except a part number on the hub which is 32LG014684 and the seller told me that it was taken from a...
