    Torque sensor with hub motor?

Thanks @Nealh. Those are harder to get in the UK, but I managed to get one on a longer leadtime and happy to wait as I'd rather go with a recomended one. Much appreciated.

    Battery advice

Hi @Peter.Bridge, Thanks, I'll try that out on my display. I'm not 100% sure on the weather protection, I've seen lots of people buy a box to put the controller in. My thinking is that the two end plates have rubber gaskets, so in principle are water-proof. That leaves the cable entry point...

    Torque sensor with hub motor?

Project so far. Once I get the PAS working I intend to remove the twist throttle. It currently max's out at 22MPH, so my next task will be to figure out how to restrict it to 15.5MPH...

    Understood. Thanks for clarifying

    Battery advice

As with all best laid plans, mine didn't survive first contact. My 2-wheel hub motor drive, twist throttle off-road project has turned into a single rear-wheel drive on-road project. Currently it's working well with the twist throttle and I've posted another thread for advice with PAS. Once I...

    Torque sensor with hub motor?

Thanks @Bikes4two . Your Pendleton project looks great. I've picked up lots of good info reading through the posts. Now I'm even more confused though. Reading what you and @saneagle have said, and references in your Pendleton posts ("PAS - Without PAS "), is the implication that the KT...

    Torque sensor with hub motor?

I do have a normal bike, which I use regularly and enjoy very much. In addition to my normal bike I'm building an e-bike and my post was seeking advice on PAS sensors with a DIY hub motor conversion. This is the conversion kits forum right?

    Torque sensor with hub motor?

Thanks @saneagle. You mean try the KT controller with a cadence sensor right? ...any advice on a good cadence sensor to get, or are they all similar?

    Torque sensor with hub motor?

Hi everyone, I'm bulding an e-bike out of a Pinnacle Lithium, with a Bafang hub motor, kt controller etc. I've previously tried out an e-bike with pas cadence sensor and found it a bit anoying when standing/hill starts. I've heard that pas torque sensors give a more natural feel and presumably...

    Battery advice

Based on your advice I've decided to go with just a rear hub motor and forget the front. Thanks for convincing me @saneagle, @matthewslack and @WheezyRider , I think you've saved me from making a big mistake with this project.

    Battery advice

I'm currently looking at the following: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Lithium-Charger-Electric-Delivery/dp/B08SWM3Z6F?th=1 It claims to give 45A constant discharge, which is significantly more than I need, but good to have some overhead right. Any advice pros/cons would be appreciated.

    Battery advice

The ebikebatteries.co.uk seem very expensive to me. Maybe you get what you pay for, but there's a lot even on Amazon with good reviews and about 50% of the cost. I'll post the one I'm looking at below...

    Battery advice

That's good advice. I want two wheel drive mainly for unstable surfaces such as sand/gravel etc. However, based on what you've said I may mount the battery a bit further forward than planned to weigh the front down a bit more...

    Battery advice

Hi, I'm building a two wheel drive (hub motors) mountain bike for off-road, from a Pinnacle Lithium 3 frame. I've got the rims/motors, controllers, display and throttle etc. I just need a battery. I'm planning for a 48v 15-20Ah battery to sit as low as possible between the down-tube and seat...

Where to source components for DIY build?

Thanks Bonzo, they look good although I'm looking for a matching set (front and back wheel) of a geared hub motor wheels 350-500w, so doesn't look like they can provide that but still a usefull starting point for me to source parts from.

Where to source components for DIY build?

Hi, I'm looking to build my first DIY ebike. I've ridden a few manufactured ebikes, both mid-drive and hub drive and have decided to build my own. Before I start searching for a second hand bike to use as a base I need to get a feel for things like common wheel sizes when buying hub motors etc...
