The replacement sensor should be here either today or tomorrow (the sensor is definitely sheared off). It's going to be replaced during a service so any problems should be sorted then. I'll do an update when I get the bike back. Thanks for the help. :)

Fingers X'd that's the case. I have learned that the man who's carrying out the service and repair of my bike is also a Pedelecs forum member who has assembled his own machines so I think I'm in the best hands.

Thanks for your help Nealh. I missed your reply when you posted earlier. I've ordered a new sensor from eBikesDirect - I seem to have damaged the original one when trying to free the chain

Hi Juicy. I think the sensor is sheared off. I've tried to take a better pic. I now remember when the bike arrived that the chain was off the wheel and snared between the sensor wheel and pedal. It was a mess. I must have torn the sensor off when freeing it.

Time to be honest here: I'm not much of a nuts'n'bolts type of person. However, when I attended my bike refresher dates this weekend I was given the details of a bike doctor. I have sent him the photos and the advice from this forum and asked if he'll carry out a full service (brakes, gears...

Update: new sensor on way (£18). You're eagle-eyed d8veh. I hadn't noticed that the sensor is sheared off. That's exactly where the chain had got tangled whilst in transit. I just spoke to ebikes-direct and they're posting out a replacement part today. Ain't internet forums the best thing since...

Yes, the chain was hanging off when it arrived! I bought it from eBay off a guy in Devon. I arranged for a courier to collect/deliver it. The numpty didn't secure it in the van so it was on its side when he got here - the chain was hanging off. Thanks for that d8veh. So I should try and source...

Thanks for the help guys. I've looked again and the sensor disc seems to be held that fixed distance from the pick-up sensor. I've photographed it the best I can - it seems the (rusty) shaft between the disc and the pedals to STOP them from being closer. from the picture do you agree?

I've looked behind the chainwheel. I see a black disc. Are the magnets embedded? I don't see anything protruding which would activate the sensor. I've attached a pic. Can anyone confirm that there's something missing or does this look OK (apart from the dirt - I'll clean this bike up later...

Ah OK. Brilliant. I'll check that - not until morning now as I'm not with the bike. I'll report back either way as I expect you'll not be able to relax until you know I'm all good! ;) Cheers guys.

Thanks JuicyBike. Sorry to seem like a doofus but is the sensor disk located on the pedal? I know this should be obvious but I'm not sure where the shaft is. Your help is really appreciated.

Took the bike out for its first ride today - NO PEDAL ASSISTANCE! Drat. The throttle lever works just fine - the bike takes off - but I got no assistance whatsoever from the motor - if anything, it seemed to be fighting against my pedalling. Any ideas or I should I contact ebikes direct?

Thanks for those replies. It's put my mind at ease that there's nothing quirky to look out for. I had a confidence-building refresher cycling lesson yesterday, courtesy of my local council. They have a free Bike Doctor today who has offered to give the bike a thorough going-over and he said...

Nothing in particular. As far as I know everything is good here but if it came with a manual I'd read it - unlike most guys I suppose! If there's a suggested maintenance schedule; how to care for the battery; any info about the gears etc... This is the first bike I've owned since my Raleigh...

Hi.Does anyone here own a Greenedge CS2? I have just bought a secondhand example and wondered if it has a manual? Is there a downloadable version anywhere? I don't have any problems; it would just be nice to have a read through. Anyway... happy cycling everyone.
