Where would you recommend buying e-conversion kits from?

Bought tongsheng motor from PswPower on Sunday, arrived yesterday. I choose the UK option for warehouse. No additional fees. Can't speak to warranty as bar a squished 8 pin connector which was eventually persuaded back into place all was good. Very very easy to fit. Did the whole conversion...

Recommend a bike for my missus

Here we are more than six months on. The missus still loves her Hopper and has become a much more confident cyclist on it. She regularly does solo rides on it (unthinkable previously) and hasn't taken the bus anywhere for nearly six months now. She's now actually pretty quick too - and some of...

    Rain poncho suitability?

Ah...the cycling cape has been reinvented. The main problem from what I recall of using one is wind, especially cross winds.

    Vaccination sense

I had whooping cough last year. Three months of lung ripping coughing and extreme fatigue that I wouldn't wish on anyone, nevermind a small child and their parents. It is nothing like any cough you've ever experienced.

    parmesan cheese in bags? wtf?

I thought this was going to be a rather different story so I'll share mine instead. Quite a few years ago, there was a god awful stink in the office. Embarrassingly, it was tracked down to one of my old style Karrimor panniers. We emptied it out. Nothing. Looked inside. Still nothing...

    Bromhopper

Thanks for those. There's a few useful tips in those. I did estimate, however, it would take the expert in the video around 20 mins to fix a puncture. Never mind trying it on a wet and windy winter's night under the light of a street lamp. The small wheels obviously don't help, neither do hub...

    Tesco hopper rear suspension

I believe you can adjust it - although haven't tried. My guess is that loosening it will result in softer suspension, and tightening it will make the suspension harder.

    Bromhopper

Just a contrary opinion. Mine started failing in lots of different ways after the first year of heavy-ish commuting (5-10 miles a day in a quite hilly area). Over the following year I had to fix the following: The chainring sheared away from the crank which meant I had to replace the entire...

    Bromhopper

I have a Brompton myself so feel I can comment. In fairness, the Brompton is hardly made from top notch materials and components either (unless you get the titanium one). It might have a nice fold and great ride, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired in places.

Recommend a bike for my missus

That's quite a nice deal - especially as has a lock and cover (the Tesco version does come with lights). Sportsdirect have another version for £399: http://www.sportsdirect.com/e-co-electric-bike-933004 I went with Tesco because they're local and the returns are good. Worth it for the extra...

Can anyone recommend a good bike for hill climbing and distance

Yes, you'd definitely want front suspension if you were going to attempt that stretch at a decent speed. Parts of it will be pitch dark after 4.30pm in the winter too.

Can anyone recommend a good bike for hill climbing and distance

A few things to consider if you do. It gets pretty muddy in places during the winter, has a few quite bumpy sections and a few dark and lonely spots too. That said, I never had any occasion to worry when I cycled/ran down it. And I also used to know someone who would regularly commute from...

Recommend a bike for my missus

The missus had her maiden voyage on the Hopper today. The bike fits her very well and after a wobbly start she gained more and more confidence. Then she turned the motor on for a hill - and shot off like a rocket with a scream of delight and fear. She finds it a bit fast even in lowest assist...

Recommend a bike for my missus

The Hopper has arrived. Mrs greencat won't get a chance to try it out until tomorrow, but she looks very pleased and it has pride of place in the kitchen at the moment. The saddle had to go down pretty much all of the way so I don't think it would suit anyone much shorter. But she loves the...

Recommend a bike for my missus

Thanks very much for your replies. I will now go and check out the E Go. Update: Well, I've ordered a Tesco Hopper which seems to be the same as the E Go. I showed her a couple of ebikes and she liked the look of the Hopper the most (very low step over frame, better colour and apparently...

Recommend a bike for my missus

Thanks Geebee. Yes, thinking about it I can't imagine her heaving almost any folding bike onto a bus really. Probably more likely that at the sign of inclement weather, she'd take the bus in the first place while leaving me to pick it up if she got caught out. I will take a closer look at...

Recommend a bike for my missus

My missus is about 5 foot 2 and weighs around 50kg. She is not a terribly confident cyclist. Balance and strength are the key barriers. But she is happy riding something with small wheels and a step through frame, like my Brompton, where she can easily put her feet down and feel safe. Trouble...
