Bafang reliability (my experience - OVERWHLMINGLY POSITIVE!)

Buy the proper socket and do it up with a torque wrench? Mine hasn’t moved at all in 2000 miles and 18 months. I think the socket was about £30. I've lent it to a mate for him to do his too, if you’re local you can borrow it!

Bafang reliability (my experience - OVERWHLMINGLY POSITIVE!)

You can always add a torque arm to resist the motor's torque rather than rely on the friction of that silly ring nut. You can use a 32mm spotlight bracket on the seat tube as an anchor point for the frame, and make a tiebar that fixes to any convenient motor screw or one of the two bracket...

Bafang reliability (my experience - OVERWHLMINGLY POSITIVE!)

I got progressively more brutal with the tightening of that nut combo, to the point where it hasn't needed tightening for over three years. Both nuts have to be tightened, the one underneath tightened most.

Bafang reliability (my experience - OVERWHLMINGLY POSITIVE!)

On the Bafang crank drive reliability thing, I had to curtail my planned ride with the GF this morning when my motor started creaking. I knew what it was pretty quickly after checking the tightness of the nearside pedal arm. That was fine and tightening it didn't improve the creaking noise. It...

I’d be happy to help… post up some pictures of your frame and motor fitment? These things do need to be considered properly when selecting a frame and motor combination… if you just go with what you’ve got then it may be fundamentally wrong and only minor fettling possible. With my project, the...

Woosh kit on a btwin tilt900

I think you should keep PAS as it is. You should be still able to activate motor with pedaling backwards. It is definitely going to be a head turner. ;) ...or you can buy PAS like this one...

Woosh kit on a btwin tilt900

Hello everyone, long time browser, first time poster. I’ve been looking to electrify my little folding BTwin Tilt900. After a browse in here I settled for a kit from woosh. After a few emails with Andy and a phone call to hand over my credit card details I had the kit. Then came this morning...

    Focus Whistler cutting off

What I said only applies to crank-drives. A hub-motor puts the battery under stress at low speed. Check the cable at both ends.

Land Rover MB to electric conversion

Thanks for the explanation. I have read of water ingress problems with crank drives. I think some earlier versions of the Bafang BBS01 had issues there. Mine hasn't, but you never know. On the noise thing - I have normal hearing and I can't hear mine at all, unless I especially listen for...

Land Rover MB to electric conversion

They work and they're better for some niche applications, but for ordinary everyday riding, like shopping, commuting and touring, they're a long way behind geared hub-motors. When nearly all ebikes were 36v and 15A max, the hub-motors struggled for power on any sort of hill, but now that we...

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

[I am also a front brake man which is why I wrote this testerday but no one noticed QUOTE="Voltsnamps, post: 715074, member: 43925"] my ideal would be tiny lightweight front wheel one, add minimal “pull” uphill to my BBS crank motor, full regen down Useless to the flat commuter, for sure...

    Carrera Vengeance Conversion

Hi guys, The motor and battery delivered today. Just started on the installation. But I'm stuck at the wrench trying to get my crank off. I feel so silly but it's my first time. I'm searching on how to get it off but no luck.

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

I totally agree, notwithstanding the difference between San Francisco and New York or mid Wales to Southend i travel both scenarios, lotsamiles so watching carefully my ideal would be tiny lightweight front wheel one, add minimal “pull” uphill to my BBS crank motor, full regen down but this as...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Ridding home from pub last night up a big hill and lots of horrible noise. Was using more assist than usual as it was late and I wanted to get to bed and didn’t want to stop to remove a few layers before the hill. Failure happened near the top of the hill so it was easy enough to pedal home...

How much battery sag is too much for a 3 year old battery?

Thanks for the info and the warning..... But... Why? I'm loving that motor now I have it legal. Cuts off at 15mph, plenty of power to go up hill, and silent as befits my name - Ghostly quiet. Maybe you should have got a Bafang instead of the other one. I can also Ghost pedal and it flies up...

How much battery sag is too much for a 3 year old battery?

That sounds pretty good to me. I think many people would be happy to get only 3v sag at 500w. That crank motor's going to have to go, though. I'd be more worried about that.

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

It has a crank motor, which is fundamentally shite, so it makes the whole idea shite, just like regen for a bicycle. When you try these things for yourself instead of writing about them, you quickly realise why.

    Motor run on BSB01

These settings for Stop Delay, Current Decay, and Stop Decay make for rapid reduction in power when you stop pedalling... but it's a two edged sword, because pedal assistance stops just as fast when you hit the speed limit, which can be a shock to old knees if pedal assistance is at a high level...

Does the throttle use more battery than pedalling

When my throttle was connected to my BBS01 250 watt average power crank motor, at PAS 9, when operated only by pedals and the motor, the power won't go beyond 250 watt input power. When the throttle was used, the power was around 600 watts. Part of this is firmware configuration which can be...

    Motor run on BSB01

When I stop pedaling there is a slight run on from the motor. Probably only about an eigth of a turn at the crank but it is rather annoying. Is there any way to overcome this?
