    Chain length

24 speed bike. Second hand. I can't get biggest front and rear gears at the same time. My chain is definitely too short. Is this correct as not a gear I'd use? Best I can do

Box for rack to carry stuff.

I fitted a DeWalt tstax box to rack which I can now clip more boxes on. Just could not carry enough stuff in the original bag. It should be waterproof and I can lock it if required. Helmit fits in. Some may think it looks daft but I don't care. I need to carry stuff. Probably will only ever...

    Hub motor cassette

I've seen some nice motor cassettes for wheels and I guess you build your own wheel from them? Not seen any rims for sale yet. How difficult is it to build a wheel and is it a good option? I'm thinking about having ago for interest.

    Lead gel 12v battery

Could I use 3 old 12 volt lead gel batteries to power hub motor? I can get plenty of batteries off a mate. Was thinking it would be fine for local pleasure rides on my backups bike.

    Bafang rear hub kit supplier

I would like a bafang rear hub with a 48v battery. Looks like the best way to get one is to buy motor and controller off Amazon, then buy a battery separately from somewhere like greenlance. Looking at it I should get a kit for around £500. Is that how most get a kit?

Steel or aluminium frame to fit hub motor

There are two bikes in my area going for under £100 suitable for fitting hub motor. One aluminium frame and another older bike with steel a frame. I'm unsure about aluminium? I read steel is always better.. Thoughts?

    Battery to fit a kit.

I noticed a few ebike kits don't come with a battery. I guess you connect the battery to whichever controller you you have but is this easy? I guess If you can't find a plug to fit then get soldering iron out?.. Just wondered.

    Bike pumps and tyre pressure

I struggle with bike pumps for some reason. It's a right comedy trying to get air in tyres! If I do manage to get the tyres inflated I seem to let the air out trying to remove pump. Ha.. Honest it's a nightmare.. I had 4 different bike pumps going trying to get air in my tyres. One own brand...

    Suspension seat post

I've ordered a suspension seat post to try out on my MTB bike. Who knew it was a thing because I never. I tried a bigger saddle but that never helped the comfort, but the bigger 2.00 tyres have made a massive difference. Anyone fitted and rode with a suspension saddle post? Just asking for interest.

    Peddles advise

I decided to buy new peddles from Halfords a few weeks ago and tried to fit them at weekend but one was seized up. I took back to Halfords right on closing and swapped (cost £1.60) don't ask! Lads couldn't swap only refund and I had to pay ticket price Vs original online discount price...

True a wheel. Bike shop or DIY?

My front wheel is way out having bought a cheap stand to try to straighten myself. Bottled out tbh as and will take the wheel to my local bike shop tomorrow. Seems mixed advice online regarding DIY. What do most people do? Guess if it's a small adjustment then worth trying..

    Wheel size 26 Inch o.l.d

Need a new rear wheel I decided after the new axel I bought never fitted correctly on my 26inch wheel MTB. 6 speed freewheel with 135 o l d (135mm distance across axel) Most adverts don't mention o.l.d size so I guess you assume it's 135mm? Is it worth getting a double rim wheel? Any...

    V-Brakes grabbing question

My 10+ year old V-brakes are grabbing on both the front and back wheels giving uneven braking? Worth replacing levers and blocks or other problem? Front wheel is a new 250w hub . Current breaks are unbranded and low quality I guess, based on everything else ok on bike. For £15 I could replace...

    Tyres which ones?

I have a MTB ebike. I'm running 26- 1.35 road tyres at 80psi with no suspension and its a hard ride! Road and cycle path mostly which in places is rough. I need a softer tide and will probably go for thicker Schwalbe tyres to cushion ride a bit. 26-2.0 tyre ok? What would be a good option? Not...
