It would be interesting to know whether this was a professional or amateur built pack? Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

    BBS02 & Vitus Nucleus - won't fit in bracket

The absence of mount points for bash guard / chain guide won't stop a standard bb being fitted afterwards. But if it is something a prospective buyer's looking for it could be a deal breaker I guess. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

    BBS02 & Vitus Nucleus - won't fit in bracket

If it's going in and gonna fit, they godda go. However, before you get happy with the angle grinder, check that rear stay doesn't protrude too far out so as to stop the motor sliding all the way in. From the pic it looks like that might be close? (Wide rear stays designed for fatter rear tyres...

electrification of lightweight folder with hub gears

Bafang BBS01 mid drive motors is all I do. I like them a lot. I have fitted about a hundred to different styles of bikes over the last couple of years. My input here is to share knowledge and experience where possible. Perhaps have a search online, there are several reputable suppliers in the...

electrification of lightweight folder with hub gears

Totally understand the preference for hub gear in this situation. My persuasion would be towards the Claude Butler and its Sturmey hub with a BBS mid drive from Bafang and a battery mounted on to the rear carrier rack. This way the folding mechanism should still operate normally allowing for...

Correct grease for secondary drive on a BBSHD ?

Lithium/moly is far easier and cheaper to get hold of I guess? Particularly in small quantities. Perhaps the thought is, it's better than nothing? And perhaps it is?.. dry secondary drive can become loud and emit a disconcerting rumble as it slowly wears away the teeth so the drive becomes...

Correct grease for secondary drive on a BBSHD ?

I use mobilgrease 28. The reason not moly or lithium is because behind a bearing inside the main casing is a nylon helical cog. Concern exists around the wrong type of grease seeping through said bearing and causing degradation of the nylon material and in time the helical cog breaking down...

This guy was hard work for me.

I agree. I thought front hub in the absence of being able to see anything else from the rear. Unless he's got the most free rolling tyres pumped at 130psi, I say it looks fishy. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

    Easy to ride

As you rightly say, you don't get much lasting goodness for under £1000. For an extra £1-200 you could create something like this? (It's a giant liv alight 2 with a BBS mid drive) Just a thought.. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

Risks of buying an incomplete e-bike

Hmmm, must be different Headway to the ones I tried (perhaps cheap fakes), because the sag I experienced was very poor, and the capacity dropped rapidly within about 250 cycles.. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk

Risks of buying an incomplete e-bike

If the price of the bike as is, allows for you to buy a new 48V battery within your budget, I'd be tempted to write off the headway cell battery and replace with better quality cells, Samsung, Panasonic or alike. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
