    Upgrade to BBSHD?

I have had a really busy week at work so haven't had time to give the bike a proper run and test its range... I have swapped over the chain ring to the Lekkie and it does have a bit more torque up hills now and no chain issues. Also fitted the gear sensor which should protect the chain and...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

I’ll probably end up buying another battery the same and just strap it to the back of my bike rack, this will be further down the line when I have more money! Thank you for the guidance regarding the mileage figures, I suspect I will get similar figures as the terrain is pretty variable. The...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks for the info minexplorer. I do like to do longer distances, up to 40 miles ish so I'll be looking to get another battery for the BBSHD eventually, maybe a rack one so I can switch over between them on longer rides. I would keep the BBS01 same as you but need to raise some cash to pay for...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks for all the help guys. I’ve just ordered a BBSHD and 15ah 30Q battery from Electron cycles. I am in the same position at you minexplorer. I am going to source a decent used hybrid, fit the BBS01 to that and sell it. I’ll just have a few eco power levels on the HD if I want to do longer rides.

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Ok, thank you for your advice. These are the 3 I’m considering. Tempted by the big triangle one for range, I know it would be considerably heavier. https://electroncycles.co.uk/product/arriving-in-7-days-52v-15ah-shark-downtube-electric-bike-battery-samsung-30q/...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Ok thanks guys. It says 35Q on the Samsung listing, is that the same thing? So I guess the performance and range of both would be comparable? On that basis, just go for whatever is cheaper?

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have one final question before I make my purchase. I’m considering two different batteries, the first one is from electron cycles: 14S5P 52v17.5Ah (Samsung 35Q cells The second one is from Insat 52v 17.5Ah Panasonic NCR18650GA Tiger Shark Both are...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks for the info minexplorer. I’ve had a good think about it and I think it would be the right thing to buy the BBSHD. One of the big things is that I can use it as a BBS01 want if required as sometimes I go out cycling with my girlfriend and she has a BBS01 kit fitted to her bike so at...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

You are right Kirstin. It won’t be cheap at all but hopefully it’ll keep me happy for a few years!

    I meant grin factor!

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Yes it’s more the grim factor. To be honest I was going to buy the BBSHD to begin with but decided a BBS01 would be fine. It is quick enough on the flats but would be nice to have a lot more grunt, especially for hill climbing. I find the 350w will get up nearly everything near me but it’s not...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks again for your replies guys, much appreciated. I do like the BBSXX kits, it's for leisure use only, I don't commute by bike. I have owned a hub-based Halfords carrera crossfire and that was pretty good on hills but I love that you can tweak the Bafang settings to whatever you like. I did...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Decisions! I guess I’m very tempted by the BBSHD. I’m looking for something that should last for years with a bit of tlc and with plenty of power for hills. Is it possible to ramp down the amps considerably with the programming for better range? Yes, agreed with the 42T chain ring, I have the...

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks for the replies guys. Would there be much benefit running the BBS02 against the one I currently have in terms of power ? I guess the HD would be significantly more powerful than even the 36v 500w bbs02 model?

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Thanks for the reply Peter. Yes, I would have to get a 48 or 52 V battery, I would be selling the old kit and batteries if I upgraded. My question is really whether a 17 aH battery from eclipse would be okay with the BBSHD kit and roughly what mileage this would achieve.

    Upgrade to BBSHD?

Hi guys, I recently converted a specialised crosstrail disc 700c hybrid bike using a BBS01 kit 350 W. It has plenty of speed on the flats and I can usually get up to about 26 or 27 mph on a good day. I do find it a bit gutless on bigger hills though. I have modified the controller settings...

More powerful battery for Hopper Shopper

Hi Kelvin, Wow this is an old post! I didn't go through with it in the end, cancelled the order and sold the bike soon after, I really wanted a hybrid. I have a carrera crossfire e from Halfords now and that is significantly better in terms of power and features, which it should be given how...

BBSHD for Specialized crosstrail sport disc

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I will see if I can buy the battery and motor kit at the same time. That's good to know, at least I could use the bike without the battery if I had to!

BBSHD for Specialized crosstrail sport disc

Thank ford. I'm reasonably fit so could probably cope with it for a short while. It's a shame the batteries are nearly the same price as the kit itself but that's the norm for electric bikes.
