Thanks for the help from both of you. I took the battery box to my local electrician and he found that the contacts on the charger socket were not gripping the pins when charger plug pushed in. A few tweaks and working again. What a relief!

Thanks. The battery normally has approx 41v after charging. On this occassion, after approx 30 miles bike ride in headwind the battery was of hardly any use for the last 5 miles, and when I got back it read at 33v. Tried to charge it but charger said fully charged (green light on) so not tried...
