It carries on working because the motor is in the rear wheel so as long as you power it , ie using thumb throttle it will turn the wheel and propel you forward. Not sure if you can get it moving without the throttle. Someone else will be along to explain for you though.

I covered all my connections with heat shrink and even taped the end of the heat shrink for further weatherproofing.

As I could not get the lock ring on the motor I thread locked the nut and marked it with a dab of paint on it, so at least I should see if it starts to work loose.
