    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

Just an observation but arguing with customers & potential customers & potential influencers is self-defeating. Spamming the same post & video repeatedly in the same thread is poor forum etiquette & bloody irritating. It always amuses me when company ABC folds & is relaunched as ABC (2019) or...

Is it a bad idea to order an E-bike from another country?

My goodness. How heavy is the Gocycle if it’s sturdier than the Brompton? I’ve not ridden an electric Brompton but have hired a regular one for the weekend on a few occasions. I found it very sturdy but a bit too heavy as a portable folding bike. I wouldn’t want to be lugging one around on the...

Is it a bad idea to order an E-bike from another country?

I wouldn't order a bicycle from abroad for the same reason that I wouldn't order a TV or washing machine. After-sales service with a bulky item would be a pain if it ever needed to be returned. I would however buy (& indeed have) a camera or other smaller item that can be reasonably easily &...

    Recommend me some nice gloves

Every sizeable town in France has a Decathlon & even though there has been a big increase in their UK stores in recent years my nearest is 40 miles away. I don't think that I have been to a store in the UK but the French ones are great. BTW I just checked the receipt & in store these gloves...

    Recommend me some nice gloves

We are just back from one of our regular visits to France. Popped into Decathlon in Quimper & was able to try on a variety of pairs. Bought these at €13 & very nice & warm they are too without being bulky. https://www.decathlon.fr/p/gants-de-velo-500-mi-saison-noirs/_/R-p-166034?mc=8398149&c=JAUNE

    Bike Maintenance

The OP mentions a commute not off-road & the Carrera Crossfuse is a hybrid. What maintenance should he have done other than oiling the chain & moving parts?

    Bonkers bike!

Who on earth would spend €4.5K on that? It doesn't look practical for a serious adult cyclist & a kid couldn't afford one.

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

It can't be correct that battery can be no more than 48V. It's the power of the motor that's limited to 250W not the voltage required to deliver that power. Power = current x voltage.

    Recommend me some nice gloves

I'm a fair weather leisure cyclist. If it's freezing the bike will stay in the shed. Thanks for the suggestion on the Crab Hand Winter Gloves for warm as they might be they are a bit too extreme & don't look like they would so easy operate gear change & touch screen. My partner suggested they...

    Recommend me some nice gloves

My partner & I went out today intending to ride for about an hour on our new pedelecs. I lated about 10 minutes as my hands were so perishing cold. It's my birthday so my partner ever desperate to find a present for the man who has everything said she would buy me some cycling gloves. Does...

    Tubeless recommendations

You would not have been able to repair the punctures that my partner got in her front wheel. Multiple punctures over 9” of tube.

Are tyres & tubes really so much easier to change nowadays?

This particular puncture would have been impossible to fix at the roadside as there were in fact many small punctures. As the tube got punctured & deflated the tyre came off the rim & the tube popped out & presumably then suffered multiple pin pricks on the sharp gravel. When it came time to...

Are tyres & tubes really so much easier to change nowadays?

As explained on my other thread regarding tubeless tyres on our first outing with our newly converted pedelecs my partner's front wheel got a puncture & our trip was aborted. Today for the first time in probably 50 years I changed the punctured tube for a new one & found it fantastically easy...

    Tubeless recommendations

Thanks for lots of interesting comments. As mentioned these are hybrid bikes & mostly used on the road with occasional off-road on e.g. footpath in a country park nothing extreme. The tyre size on both bikes is 700x38c. It sounds like tubeless might be more faff & expense than is warranted &...

    Tubeless recommendations

We have just had our hybrids converted to pedelecs by Woosh with powered front hubs & are very pleased with them. Unfortunately on our first proper outing last weekend my partner got a puncture on her front wheel & as we were unprepared our ride was aborted. It got me thinking regarding going...

Hub Geared Electric Bikes - What Has Happened To Them?

I rather like the fact that most of the time with a front hub drive you can just leave the bike in top gear & let the motor assist you without buggering about changing gears.

Need help with choosing right ebike.

I didn't realise that you will fit your kits too. How much do you charge? I started about my own thread to ask about someone in Essex to convert our two bikes. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/looking-for-someone-to-convert-two-bikes.35710/?view=date#post-520754
