    Freewheel removal tool

Can anyone advise if this is a standard tool for freewheel removals: https://www.evanscycles.com/fwe-shimano-mf-freewheel-remover-EV183178 The bike in question is a cyclotricity stealth. The cassette is listed here under accessories http://cyclotricity.com/parts-and-accessories/ I guess I...

    More ebike woes

By the power of facebook, I have an update. The bike is now ready, and as they were closed after they finished it, he was going to ring me on Monday to let me know. Good to know its done, but not happy with the comms at all. Would it have hurt to ring me after closing time to let me know so I...

    More ebike woes

Apologies if I have come across a bit shitty...Im just peed off with it. And my worry is similar to what you just said Gubbins....have they managed to break something else along the way and thats why its taking so long to sort out?

    More ebike woes

I know, and in the future, I probably will have a go. The price they quoted for labour wasn't worth dirtying my hands over to be honest for something I hadn't done before. That coupled with the promise of it being out of action for one day.

    More ebike woes

I appreciate that...and Im new to bikes after say 25 years...so im doing what I have picked up along the way. I only picked up on the chain could need replacing a week or so ago from here. I dont ever recall having to replace a bike chain years ago. But like I have said, the post was more...

Fair enough. But that isnt the point of my post really is it?

    More ebike woes

None taken. But i dont know how you drew that conclusion from this? In the 1600 miles, I have replaced the front brake pads twice, the rears once, and it is cleaned, oiled, brakes adjusted etc on a weekly basis. The point is, it is my daily commute, so it is treated in the same way as I...

    More ebike woes

Well, I dont know if its just my luck, but Im getting a bit peeved yet again with all things bike. Had several issues with ebikes since I first started out with one early last summer. Wont go into all that again, but thought I had finally got some luck rolling wiht me. Last weekend, I replaced...

Choosing the right bike! Which one?

I had the CS2 for a few months before changing to something else. While I thought the CS2 was a good enough bike for using on the road, it wasnt handling the tow paths that I ride down on my commute very well. The biggest problem I had was the way the battery is fixed to the bike. The...

How long should a chain last on a E-MTB

Well, I changed the chain easily enough, gear changes a lot smoother..but...the chain was jumping all over the place on the rear cassette. Called into the local bike shop on the way home after the chain popped off. Turns out the cassette is worn badly, and I have also broken the derailleur...

How long should a chain last on a E-MTB

Well, after 1500 miles on my stealth, looks like the chain has stretched quite a bit. The drive has started to feel loose of late, so I read through this thread, watched a video of how to see if your chain needs replacing, and im pretty confident it does. If i pull the chain forward off the...

    Cycle to work

New cycle to work scheme starts soon. However my employer uses one that appears exclusive to halfords. I've seen so many good bikes on here since I joined but a lot of them are above our 1000 pound limit. I don't mind paying the extra but I'm led to believe it's not possible. So I was...

    Mudguard recommendations

Finally resolved my mud issue. I bought the Topeak Defender xc11 rear guard after reading a lot of reviews on it. https://www.evanscycles.com/topeak-defender-xc11-rear-mudguard-EV162322 This left a bit of a gap under the seat, so I could imagine all the mud would build up around the crank...

Cyclotricity Stealth 1000W double battery set up

That makes sense now, thanks for explaining it :)

Cyclotricity Stealth 1000W double battery set up

Maybe I didn't explain to them properly what I meant. So, all you are doing is joining two batteries together with a Y piece? When the first one runs flat, the second kicks in....or they just make one big battery? If you then charge them both to full after each cycle, they should be at the same...

Cyclotricity Stealth 1000W double battery set up

I spoke with Cyclotricity about this yesterday. Their advice was that the Y piece would bypass the BMS, so would need something else doing to it......I got a bit lost at the description of what was needed after that. The other option suggested was a double pole/double pro (i think) switch...

Cyclotricity Stealth 1000W double battery set up

Ok, I would just carry the pair to my office desk and charge them as normal I guess. It might invalidate my warranty I suppose, so propably safer to get a bigger rucksack and stick it in that and swap over when one goes flat

Cyclotricity Stealth 1000W double battery set up

Sorry to butt in, is there any difference in the way the battery works if you connect them at the same time using the Y connector, or one at a time when the first one has run out? This could definitely be the answer to my dilemma when i move house
