    Brexit, for once some facts.

I would be pretty sure that they are NOT testing for Omicron Variant routinely. Doing that type of analysis is very slow and expensive. So sampling is done instead. They will be routinely doing the PCR test for general COVID,which should be picking up any of the variants. There are less than...

In fairness it is very fast moving science ... A Government must prepare for a less than most positive outcome.. The very best Christmas present we could all get is if this Omnicron, roared like a Lion ,was a virulent as they claim, produced the classical Covid immune response with lots of...

Death rates are down , despite increased virulence due to a number of factors 1. Vaccines work, even where the patient gets infected ,and even with one dose 2. In the very early days only known very seriously ill people were tested and the published death rated were 11% of those known 3...

And finally a smigin of potentially good news. The Head of Microbiology at TCD, Luke O' Neill relayed some positive possibility... That elements of the Common Cold Virus have been identified in the Omnicron variant. On one hand this gives it it's supercharged virulence, ..but the consequence...

Maybe ... It might not be getting infected and shrugging off a minor infection that matters or conveys any immunity, but getting a heavier dose which elicits a full immune response.

The data I quote is Covid worldometers based on the John Hopkins data. I have no idea , and moreover nobody else has the data for the extremely mild , ...the asymptomatic.. but really it doesn't matter unless they confer a specific amount of immunity. If you recall earlier discussions were...

Covid affects only a few?. .. Well yes since we have only had 250 million confirmed cases out of a potential market of 8000 million . But it has killed 5.3 million of those. .. but hey it's early days yet. So it has declined down to a kill rate of 2.2%.from the 3% I have been using up to now...

If I may and leaving out any personal insults... The observations you made about prevalence in certain parts of London was a statistical analysis of observations at a macro level . We all have sufficient grasp of maths to be able to follow the argument. We..you and I may disagree with your...

I am not putting up barriers to you or anyone else doing research, Merely stating the obvious that floundering around in the kiddies paddling pool is not swimming.

The bottom line is that what you are claiming as research is fantasy. Seeking other options or opinions is very reasonable ..and that is what you are doing, but calling it research is a bridge too far

Nope!. Not really. I listened to the advice of the professionals. I have been around medical people my entire life .. . All my sisters were either Nurses,or Physios, Some married into others of like mind. My father was a GP. My son has been under specialist treatment for CF for 33 years , ...

Indeed we all are capable , but not necessarily competent. On topics in advanced biochemistry, immunology , we likely don't have the vocabulary to spell the words, let alone understanding of what these verbs and nouns entail, and more importantly how the various competing reactions interfere...

jHC... How do I put this politely ... I suspect you are incompetent to do anything approaching research on this topic. As am I and everyone else on this forum .

I can to a certain amount concur that consultants will be highly specialised and unable to relate outside their precise area... Perhaps its extreme caution. However Not so much with GPs ..or maybe I have been lucky so far. But I am also very strongly against self diagnosis

Again and with respect, is this professionally recognised or self diagnosis? " Unwellness " can be anything from nearly comotose to self indulgent whining..... My son is seriously unwell every day.

Look my son had a very miserable experience for the 2 or 3 days after the first AZ shot, He referred to it as almost as bad as his ICU experience. But that did not stop him getting his other shots, enthusiastically. This is because he knew and knows that Covid would be the death of him. ..35%...

Oyster, there must be a certain fraction of the population who cannot for valid medical reasons be vaccinated. However ,I have no idea what those conditions are, and why they cannot be vaccinated. However it must be very possible for the appropriate authorities to flag up this cohort and list...

Flecc.. in this one you must know you are being irascible. The dead cannot possibly get infective, and will not be occupying hospital beds, the sub 12 year olds might, can and do. Whether the Guardian is being mischievous is an interpretation you could advance... But remember we in Ireland...
