Increasing mid-drive's acceleration with bicycle parts only

:D All I'm looking for is a little more acceleration on a first few yards, I'm happy with further acceleration as it already is. Just not sure which way is most effective, surely all of them combined, but if I was to try out just one which one would you start with?

Increasing mid-drive's acceleration with bicycle parts only

As in the subject line, I'm looking for ways to increase the initial acceleration without touching the motor, controller or battery. Not interested in top speed, just bigger 'oomph' when launching at traffic lights. Currently using BBSHD on a 29er bike on 2.3 tyres with 42T lekkie and 28T low...

Just got an ebay kit. Good for London commute?

I have been riding around central London on a BBSHD powered ebike pretty much every day for the last 6 months. Throttle only, no pedalling, big bike with mirrors and massive battery pack - not exactly trying to blend in. I pass the police vehicles few times on every commute and never had any...

    BBSHD grinding noise issues

Thanks - should it be greased up too or no need to lubricate?

    BBSHD grinding noise issues

This is how the sound looks like - more or less. Though this guy seems to have a continuous problem and his chainring is spinning, whilst in my case the chainring does not move and the problem goes away as soon as I lift off the throttle.

    BBSHD grinding noise issues

Thanks, but in my case when the noise occurs there is no movement of the chain ring, hence I would exclude any problems with bike's drivetrain and narrowed it down to BBSHD internal issue. To my untrained ear it sounds like a slipping gear of some sort...

    BBSHD grinding noise issues

Thanks both. I suppose the first step is to open up the motor and have a general look around... I will check both nylon gear & bearing, and whilst there I should probably apply some fresh grease - any product you recommend for this application? I used my bike this morning and same issue...

    BBSHD grinding noise issues

As in the subject line, recently my BBSHD started to make grinding noises when starting up, the chain ring does not spin for about a second or two but then it feels like it ‘gets in the gear’ and is back to normal again. This seems to be an internal issue, nothing seems wrong with bike’s...

High pitch noise from the charger

Thanks. Charging is direcly from a home socket and noise appears only when charge is near full. Apart from the noise the charger seem to work correctly, i.e. does charge and does not seem to get hotter than usual.

High pitch noise from the charger

Hi all, I have a new battery and charger having done only about 5 charging cycles. I noticed last night the charger makes a high pitch noise when the battery is being charged. I noticed this when battery was almost full, but perhaps the noise was there before and I just wasnt there to pick it up...

    BBSxx cassette or freewheel?

This might be a dummy question but does BBSxx require a freewheel or a cassette is fine? I’m planning on upgrading my stock 14-28T to 11-34T for larger range of gears. Thanks.

Can upgrade to lekkie ring wait a few weeks?

The donor bike is Scott Aspect 960 29er with 7-speed cassette, I suppose 7S cassette would help due to more generous spacing in between cogs? Does the chain ever fall off not during gear changes?

Can upgrade to lekkie ring wait a few weeks?

Benefits of upgrading the stock ring to lekkie are extensively covered on this forum and I will be upgrading to lekkie at some point for sure, but given a tight budget do you think I need to get BBSHD with lekkie ring immediately or can it wait a few weeks until I save up the extra? I read some...

    Sanyo NCR vs Samsung 29E

That would be the best but I have no skill unfortunately...

    Buying from em3ev?

FYI more correspondence from Jonathan on this subject: The chances of paying import duties are low. We cannot guarantee that you won’t have to be taxes. However, so far no one using the direct shipping method has had to pay. It is very likely that it will be the cost of the parts plus the...

    Sanyo NCR vs Samsung 29E

Thanks, I realise buying BBSxx and de-tunning to 18A is pointless, might as well buy 500W motor and save me some money. I will pass on 29E then. What about Panasonic PF or LG MJ1? They both seem to be performing well according to the attached chart (taken from em3ev website) but are cheaper...

    Buying from em3ev?

Thanks, that aligns with what danielrlee said he paid recently and what Jonathan from em3ev said about possible ‘small taxes’ to be paid. He also mentioned duty is covered by the courier. My only worry is VAT which at 20% is the biggest expense and I’m really surprised to see no one seems to...

    No taxes or VAT either?

    Sanyo NCR vs Samsung 29E

What about BBS02, would 29E cells be good enough to power it? Would it help if controller was set to 18amp max?

    Buying from em3ev?

Hi, I have queried this with guys from em3ev and got the following response: For European countries, North America, Australia and New Zealand, we use the direct shipping method (battery-fed shipping) for orders containing battery packs. This means that the shipping company pays the import...
