    Battery Care over Winter

I was all set to make the rig but it's freezing in my garage and I decided to order some soft silicon wire and do the final build in warmer days. But I did a bit of a test rig, the kinder ones among you may call it a prototype. It works fine and I can use it on 20v tool batteries 24v shopper...

    Battery Care over Winter

Yes I discover that the lamp get hot, (ouch) that's when I nipped to toolstation and bought 4 of the ceramic sockets for them. I'm thinking of mounting the sockets on an aluminium strip, I am using an inline fuse which takes car type blade fuses 5 amp at the moment but may have to use 10 amp...

    Battery Care over Winter

You highlighted my exact thoughts, don't want any sparking to damage the battery terminals and I would like to retain the watt meter readings. Need to think it through and try to get it right, but these kind of projects seem to evolve and become modified. At the moment I have rigged it up on a...

    Battery Care over Winter

Bits all finally arrived, so I'm looking how to lay this out and mount on a board. I intend to use one of the switches to interrupt power, and the other switch to cut in or out the fourth lamp, that way I can use with both my 24v and 36v batteries. I'm also wondering about feeding the watt meter...

    Battery Care over Winter

Interesting to hear how well your system works, given the price of batteries it seems to be a sound investment. Just waiting for the bits I've ordered to arrive then I'll set it all out and test it before I mount it on a board. Two questions Do you have a link to the watt meter you used? I've...

    Battery Care over Winter

Appreciate that this is an old thread but interesting to me. I'm sure many expensive batteries would last much longer with some attention during winter months,. Having read this I intend to build a similar discharger myself, I have ordered a discharge monitor to add in which will cut off at a...

Would appreciate a little shopper bike help

Battery is pretty small with a neat block of cells, probably given new cell advances it may be possible to improve the battery. I don't see any BMS in there

Would appreciate a little shopper bike help

Sadly that seem to be the story here, the LEDs on the control dipped dow to one when riding up the slopes, probably the best thing will be to take time and see what are the best options for a new cell pack and install it myself. Might be an interesting little project.

Would appreciate a little shopper bike help

That's interesting, I thought this through and decided that without a decent battery the bike is useless but as this bike is a second bike then I don't was to go mad with it. I am ordering a 24v 10 A battery to replace the existing one, I will try to cycle the old one a few times to see if it...

Would appreciate a little shopper bike help

Though a bit weak, it didn't cut out. Once the SOC decreases then at some stage it will likely cut out on inclines. Yes it's not dead yet but I feel its on its way. From what I gather re cell would be a bit expensive, so I'm looking at getting a new battery, there is one on ebay says yose...

Would appreciate a little shopper bike help

So cleaned up a few things, fitted new tyre and tube and tried it up and down the street a few times. Key switch was a bit temperamental at first but the bike worked OK. Ran up and down the slope few times probably about a mile. The battery LEDs go down to one when going up then back to full...

Battery starting to fade on my Carrera Vulcan E

That's a shame, I don't think the crank sensors are expensive, but the re cell sounds like a none starter. Looks like the new battery and crank sensor would be the best option give it a new lease of life for under £200, if you wanted to go that far.

I cleaned the terminals and put the battery onto the bike then turned the key, nothing at first but a squirt of wd40 and working the key back and forward a few times the LEDs flashed then lit up I can select the assist level via the buttons, and pushing the peddle I feel the assist kick in...

Would appreciate a little shopper bike help

I am not a serious biker but I have two e-bikes, one a halfords crossfire bought in 2017 and the second one a Tesco hopper shopper bought for my wife but unfortunately never used. I am tinkering about with the shopper bike and wondered how the battery has faired after sitting about for some...

    Sourcing 18650 cells

So my curiosity has been awakened and I found out the charger then took the battery from its storage place in a polystyrene box in my garage, the charge LED was on the lowest level so I plugged it in and switched on, it seemed to take a while so I left it overnight. Next morning full power...
