    Cycle or die?

The direction on my computer controlled exercise bike is your maximal heartbeat rate is 220 minus your age in years. Thus, at 70, my maximal HR is 150. It has a profile where you can input your age, decide what percentage of maximal HR you want and it takes you there (you have to pedal of...

    Cycle or die?

The body uses about 90Kcal per hour just to operate - hence the 2000 Kcal per day for an adult male. That is equivalent to 100 watts. So 180 Kcal would power your metabolic demands for 2 hours - a Mars Bar would do the same for 5 hours! Fats / Oils of any sort contain 9000 Kcal/Kilo so that...

When trying to run it out choose a short "circular" course around home so that when the battery does pack up you do not have too far to ride home - it will be a boring exercise going round the circuit again and again

still not to sure what to make of bosch ebike system

I was issued with a RAF College Cranwell Sports Blazer in 1966 when I gained a cadetship. I still have it. I was 15st 7 in 2014 and came down to 11st 7 later that year - deliberately. I am still that weight now and my blazer fits perfectly - I was 20 when issued, 71 now

still not to sure what to make of bosch ebike system

D8VEH, You forgot about the cost of a whole new wardrobe of clothes after you lose 40 kg - most impressive you are to be highly congratulated. Your next challenge is to keep that weight off after your valiant initial success. Really well done!

    Bike computers

If you provide a 100 watt input yourself, then you are burning 90 Kcals per hour, no matter what else the bike motor is providing. 100 watts is a reasonable effort to provide without serious straining

Nail varnish is a good locking medium for that sort of small nut, and can be broken if necessary to undo the fastening in the future, if you don't like pink (that easily shows which nuts you have locked and those you have missed) then you can always use clear varnish
