Looks like an independent company with their own cycle scheme. They have a good range but means you can't choose your own shop which can limit you somewhat. Some cycle schemes allow you to buy a bike above the £1000 mark and add your own money to top it up. Cyclesolutions does look like it...

For a 3 mile commute even with a few minor hills that should be fine. d8veh is right in saying rear motor is better though. Which cycle scheme does your employer use? I may be able to help you out either with that bike or an alternative one depending on the cycle scheme.

Looks like a variation of a 2 pin molex connector. Instead of trying to find the exact one to match I'd probably either do what Nealh said above or cut it off and fit my own plugs.

Motor power greater than 250w and assisted top speed greater than 15.5mph. To me it sounds like it still won't be legal for UK roads without licence plate etc. Unless this kit also provides a way of restricting it? I'd love to have a go on one though.

Both have hydraulic brakes now so the only differences are gears, lights, battery, seat and handle bars. The Motus is a very popular bike! But I'm digressing from the original topic now :D

There are a fewf decent hard tail eMTB's available with a rear motor for around £1-1.5k. If you are wanting mid drive with decent spec you will need to push the budget a little bit more. The Raleigh Strada TS is a good eMTB for those not wanting to spend a huge amount...

I'd probably be more inclined to use a larger bike and leave at the station but I can see having a folder would make things easier the other end. Best I can suggest as a large folding bike would be the Byocycles Clameleon FDXL 17" frame, 24" wheels and suitable for anyone up to 6'4"...

I've had customers have trouble with similar types of lock in the past. Without seeing it it's hard to diagnose properly but it does sound like everything is moving properly at least. First thing to try is operating it in a certain order... Turn key and hold, Press slider and hold, Release key...
