    Brexit, for once some facts.

Our government is at impasse....many now understand that the Tories are not going to lead us to a good outcome and May is determined to keep her job and keep Labour out of No 10....the end result is that we could by lack of government have no deal....I am sure May doesn’t want to run our country...

Importing bikes from Europe after a no deal Brexit

Just look at the tariffs on food under WTO,it will make some food a luxury.....I don’t know anyone who wants to pay double for meat and dairy products. In the longer term we may be able to replace EU food but that will take time. KudosDave

Importing bikes from Europe after a no deal Brexit

I think that May is hoping the EU will get desperate at the last minute and cave in to give us a good deal.....we may get a shock at the end, they may call our bluff. KudosDave

83.6% Anti-Dumping Tariff on Chinese E-bike. Where the Market will go?

Wasn’t sure it was on our website but it is true that we don’t export bikes...the reason is the cost of shipping (it costs more to ship a bike to France than the ship cost from China),we don’t have distributors in Europe,it is important to have local assistance when selling bikes. However,our...

Importing bikes from Europe after a no deal Brexit

Yes we could, but the number of German bikes into the UK,across all suppliers I bet it is less than 5000 units. Dont forget there is also 54% anti dumping duty on normal bikes...imagine what that would do to the price of a Pinarello imported into the UK. But we voted for brexit, now we have to pay...

83.6% Anti-Dumping Tariff on Chinese E-bike. Where the Market will go?

At the moment I agree....for many years we could have developed our bike industry just as the Germans, but we didnt. In some respects the cheap chinese bikes were a deterrent to making our own. The situation now is unfortunate, that the anti-dumping duty and the uncertainty of brexit have come...

83.6% Anti-Dumping Tariff on Chinese E-bike. Where the Market will go?

Its not really a fair comparison UK v EU....we dont have the market size of the EU so have no volume of scale....we dont know post brexit what is going to be the export situation (standards/tariffs etc) from UK to EU,so its impossible to invest in a bike assembly operation in the UK and look...

Importing bikes from Europe after a no deal Brexit

The only way that there will be an open border in Ireland is if we agree to harmonise tariffs and duties with the EU,which I assume is what the common rule book is all about. E-bikes going into either the north or the south will be subject to the same anti dumping duties....if not the EU will...

Importing bikes from Europe after a no deal Brexit

Just guessing.....initially,we would work on WTO tariffs, from memory that is 14%....we could buy from China on same tariff. But it won’t be long before the EU think of us as a satellite of China and put all anti dumping duties China to EU onto U.K. to EU trade....it would be illogical to do...

Unfortunately May has already agreed by her common rule book that she will mirror all EU tariffs post March 2019,these anti dumping duties will continue after Brexit. KudosDave

83.6% Anti-Dumping Tariff on Chinese E-bike. Where the Market will go?

Juicy....I admire any efforts to make these bikes closer to home but the big problem is getting the parts from China to assemble here....as I have reported elsewhere the Chinese government anti pollution campaign is causing massive delays....you know I buy from over 100 vendors in China,all...

83.6% Anti-Dumping Tariff on Chinese E-bike. Where the Market will go?

Normal bikes have for years come into Italy via Tunisia from China,it’s not smuggling Tunisia is a preferred country by the EU. I suspect that electric bikes can come the same way,but the volumes will be big,too big for most of the small U.K. ebike importers. We may be buying our bikes from...

EBMA files an anti dumping complaint on chinese e-bikes.

Purchasing anything from China is taking so much longer than normal,6 months is the minimum. The Chinese government is prioritising controlling pollution, this particularly affects drop forging, casting and plating operations, some can’t meet the new requirements and are closing. Bike components...

I don’t agree with Rees-Mogg’s ideology but I did think he was a bright bloke. On a recent radio programme he answered a concerned Dover resident about how traffic would be managed post Brexit. He said... We will have control of our borders so it will be our choice if we check the lorries coming...

Perhaps the illegal overspend by Vote Leave could be an escape for TM. She could say that the illegality affected the result such that the original vote could not be fairly relied upon and a new vote is needed. But those who voted Leave havent experienced any pain as yet so maybe the vote will...
