Fun while it lasted! Any troubleshooting advice?

99% sure battery is ok. Further troubleshooting shows that when the motor is connected the battery bars are empty, take the motor off, battery bars are full. Does that with both controllers.

Fun while it lasted! Any troubleshooting advice?

Well after just 140 miles my conversion has died. On a run this afternoon it started to cough and splitter going on and off then finally going altogether. I’ve got a spare controller (bought in error) so went to fit that. I then noticed one of the resistors was quite burnt so thought it may be...

    Conversion kits and the law

I’ve got a 36v 250w rear hub paired to a 48v battery and can confirm when on the work stand it maxs out at 23mph. Stick my 15st lump on it and I’m sure it’ll struggle to get to that on the road! But I can get up a local 7% hill at 15mph without even getting out the saddle, which is mainly why I...

    Wheel security?

I’ve got a u lock that came with a cable too. Can just about get it through the two wheels and onto the u lock so that’s as good as it will probably get. If they can get through the cable then they’re more than an opportunist so will probably get it whatever.

    Lockdown

I’d say prior to the ‘lockdown’ 70-80% of my riding was on towpaths, cycle paths and old converted railway lines. The last few weeks I reckon I’m 90% on the road as it’s quieter and feels safer than dodging the wandering walkers and rusty old bikes people have found in the shed in the last week!

    KT settings, any advice?

It looks like I just had to set P2 to 5 to sort out the speed not working correctly. I’ll keep an eye on the battery though and see what happens.

    KT settings, any advice?

I’ve finally got my conversion all up and running and enjoying it so far on a quick test ride round the block. Couple of niggles though. It’s a 48v HL battery but it’s sitting at 52v on the screen. Also it’s showing full bars but when I start using the power it will drop one, then come back. I’m...

Wheel builder in Birmingham/Black Country area

My usual store couldn’t do it as his truing stand is something from the ark and couldn’t deal with the cable coming out the side! Everyone else I spoke to wouldn’t do it as they said it needed thicker spokes than usual and weren’t prepared to source any. Finally found a store that’ll do it local...

Wheel builder in Birmingham/Black Country area

My best laid plans of buying a rear hub motor and getting it attached to my 26” rim have flown out the window as none of my lbs can do it. Does anyone know of anywhere in the West Midlands area that can build an electric hub motor up?

PAS sensor not fitting and is my battery charging?

Well the battery is actually charging so all good there! Just need to know if I can get a smaller Pas sensor from anywhere?

PAS sensor not fitting and is my battery charging?

so finally got all my goodies from topbikekit but a couple of issues. I’ve got a hollow tech BB, but the PAS sensor is too big for my smallest chainring. It’s a 22 tooth. Quick google seems to suggest there are different sizes depending on teeth. Can I get another PAS anywhere (looks like 65mm...

    Electrifying a GT Avalanche

Hi, newbie here! Currently waiting on the delivery of a 36v 250w rear hub motor from topbikekit. Paired it to 48v battery with a built in controller for a bit of extra boost! After upgrading my normal bike to a trek hybrid, I decided to electrify my old GT Avalanche 26” mountain bike into a...
