New Legal Speed Limit: What should it be?

I think a 20 mph top assistance speed would be a good compromise and a lot safer for cycle commuters on the road. I don't see any issues with lower speed limits on mixed use paths and a 20 mph top assist speed. Just like driving a car in a 30mph limit you just have to cycle at the...

Today my Helmet has saved me a Headache

I do not disagree with any of the comments made. I just want to be able to decide myself whether I wear one or not. There are so many things in life that could be pivotal moments when you look back but my personal preference is to be able to make as many choices about my life and what I do...

Today my Helmet has saved me a Headache

I prefer not to wear one, and would be against legislation that forced everyone to wear one like Australia. In the country where more people ride a bike than anywhere else, Holland, people agree with me and don't wear one. However I think I am now in the minority in the UK where most other...

Haibike Yamaha - battery replacement options

Hi, a bit late to this thread. These batteries do not like regular deep discharges. My own commute is 16 miles off road to work and 10 miles on the road back home. I have a Yamaha sduro 2015 with 400wh battery like you, The way I manage my ride (ie eco, standard and off) I use about 40% of...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Stand down on that panic. The next page of the manual allowed me to check the absolute battery capacity and my battery is still showing the highest battery capacity that can be indicated by this test ie 75% to a %100. Slightly blunt tool. However I can now delude myself that it is still %100...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Although knowledge is power! Perhaps ignorance is bliss, as using the online Yamaha manual my battery shows 700 charging cycles or more! Thanks for the link. Maybe I need to put pattern Yamaha battery on my Christmas list!

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Sourcing a pattern replacement Yamaha battery was a good find lzzekerslike. I am really impressed with the way my original battery is holding up, but know that it cannot last for ever so having another choice rather than just the expensive Yamaha replacement is a good thing.

    E-Bikes on trains

I have taken my old Oxygen Emate City with a large battery behind the seat post on many a train with no issues at all including a busy commuter train out of Waterloo which was so busy there was no chance of the Guard checking. There are rules about what times you are allowed to travel with a...

    Pannier recommendation?

I was brought up in Hampshire and the nearest large club to me was Southampton and I used to go to The Dell quite regularly to watch them play, usually in the stands behind the goal. The atmosphere in those grounds where you could get so close to the action was fantastic.

    Pannier recommendation?

I remember many moons ago travelling with a friend to Oxford to watch Oxford United play Reading I think and walking to the ground past terraced houses one of which had a huge shark embedded in its roof. I don't support either of those sides but it was a good day out.

    Pannier recommendation?

When I decided to start commuting to work and back using a currently 26 miles round trip journey with 16 miles off road or 20 mile round trip on the road I needed some good panniers. I bought a pair of Ortleib back roller classic panniers and have found them absolutely superb. Tough, durable...

    Replacement battery

I have an emate city with a battery that is showing its age. I was going to get it re-celled by Jimmy at insat but the price of the ebay one looks tempting and it looks like it will slot straight in with just the lock strip changed. Am I missing something or is it that easy, buy battery...
