    Hub Motor Clicking

Exactly! I quite liked the quaint bell it comes with but then once I started riding it, I realised I didnt need it. If Im free-wheeling, people hear the approaching ticking noise, or if Im using the motor then they hear the humming sound. Makes me a bit self conscious but Im sure I'll get used...

    Hub Motor Clicking

Thanks guys. The clicking/ticking noise is very regular - I counted 20 per revolution. Its similar in sound to the rear wheel but louder. When the motor is on, the noise stops. I think it must just be a feature of the hub motor. I got the bike online and there nearest store is over 2 hours drive...

    Hub Motor Clicking

Got my Powabyke X-6 today :) Very pleased with it overall but was surprised by the significant continual clicking noise of the hub motor when riding. As this is my first ebike, Im not sure if this is normal. From some posts on here, I am guessing it is the sound of the ratchet in the hub motor...

    Redesign of Pedelecs site

I havent made any complaint yet :p , I was merely enquiring. You sound paranoid  . I think world+dog would agree a junior member with constructive comments is more valuable than a senior member who wastes time and screen estate:rolleyes: . That gives me another (constructive) idea - how...

    E-Bike Essentials

Some great ideas (with the exception of wotwozwhocarez), keep'em coming. I'll have to stick to the bare essentials for now as not much money left after the outlay for the bike itself but will create a wishlist that should do for birfday and xmas pressies for a while!! Thanks again!

    Redesign of Pedelecs site

I think it woud be good to have sections based on manufactrurer as when I was choosing a bike, it was a slog to do a search for the name and then find the post not really that relevant. I think manufacturer specific forums could help users get answers to their bike-specific questions easier...

    E-Bike Essentials

My original question (which i edited down after essexman's response advising me to look elsewhere-didnt want to wast anyone time and couldnt delete the post) was about what essentials should I carry in a kit bag for my e-bike that will be making a 4-5 mile daily commute. I was thinking along the...

    powabyke x-byke battery

Frank, given the change of battery was due to last minute reasons, are there any longer term plans to introduce a new range of batteries for the X-Byke which will a) look more aesthetically pleasing (though I do not find the current design too bad) and/or b) have a greater capacity? As a...

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

Thanks, alsmith, I look forward to seeing them. Is this the sort of battery you ordered? This says its for 400-800W motors so do you think it would cause problems on the 250W Powabyke hub motor?

    powabyke x-byke battery

I was recently sent a brochure from Powabyke and it shows the rocket launcher battery , same as on their web site, so I think its just an old stock photo. I think Powabyke probably dont try too hard to get retailers to update their photos as its probably in their benefit.

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

Sounds fascinating! Would be interested to hear how you intend to fix it to the bike and perhaps some pics, if you'd be kind enough to oblige!

What's your alternative solution? Presumably it doesnt involve the original batteries??

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

Thanks Paul, There seems to be some great prices on that site. I have asked them for a quote for the bike and all the bits (helmet, lock, lights and computer) which all comes to £875 inlcuding £10 delivery. Only disappointing thing about them is they classify the electric bikes under 'Women's...

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

now youve retired your powabyke, what have you replaced it with? Also, as you mention the miles, is this an estimate or did you have a computer on it? I have heard its not possible to put a computer on the x-byke as the forks are too far from the wheel.

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

thanks again. I certainly will try some bikes out when i get the time. A local bike dealer visited our work with a sample of ebikes and i got to try the wisper 905 sport and was impressed though out of my range at £1300. that had a 16inch frame and i felt ok on it so am hoping a 21inch powabyke...

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

I am trying to work out Total Cost of Ownership so I can work out the cost savings against driving into work. If I charge the battery 5 times per week and it has a lifetime of 500 cycles, i figure I'll have to replace the battery every two years. This poses a couple of questions: How much is a...

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

Thanks for your feedback so far. The Maestro, I havent been on a bike in about 10 years so getting from A to B comfortably rather than fast is my main goal so i dont think the 15mph restriction will be a problem, at least to start with. Thanks Alex728 for the info on the price of the...

Powabyke x-6 Vs X-24 Vs Powacycle Salisbury Vs Something Else?

Hi. I am thinking of getting an electric bike and obviously need to choose which one. In short, my needs are: A bike frame to suit my 6'8" 14+ stone frame Purchased through cyclescheme (my employer's choice) limit of £1000 as I dont want to make a 100% contribution to the portion above it...
