Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

Well you are not too far from me, we could meet up sometime As per @Nealh 's experiences with his Bafang G370 this bike is easy to pedal above the motor cut off speed (set to 25km/h) (I did have to set the assist level to 0 to double check the motor wasn't assisting, it is very quiet)...

Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

Must get a ride on a front motor bike some day to try out feel and handling. Been thinking for a while about converting the Brompton. Mind you - i already have 2 e-bikes, so it isn't exactly pressing.

    Hello

...will be at getting it in the hold. From an ebike perspective, it's underpowered and expensive but for my needs (three wheels for stability, can take it on a train/bus), it's excellent. If I could still manage two wheels I would probably have bought an electric Brompton for the same reasons :p

You should never take an ebike anywhere near salt water, especially a Chinese bike.

Hi all, have bikes in all guises N+1 Brompton, MTB and road. Latest purchase was a fatbike mainly for beach riding. Went over to Spurn Point for its first sand run out. It's dammed hard work. I'm passed retirement age and this was the hardest ride i've ever done. Some bits are completely...

    Nano Brompton repair

Is there anyone on here up to repairing a Nano Brompton? It's only 5 years old and is now dead - the motor that is, the lights come on but no propulsion. I don't want to drive to Wiltshire to get it fixed - anyone in the London/Eat Anglia region? Thanks.

...across the tops of the rough stuff, requiring less suspension travel. All of which is superfluous on tarmac, until you hit a pothole. Did Brompton ever make an MTB? 26" was the thing when I bought my last MTB, and I'm happy with the wheel size personally. And it's the perfect chainstay...

The New Brompton G Line Electric

All over the country councils are no longer maintaining the roads. It can't be a money problem because my council doesn’t suffer from that constraint. It must be something from C40 Cities or something like that. We can counter by using fatbikes, which will start to become a necessity in a few...

The New Brompton G Line Electric

10, maybe even 5 years ago I was happy enough using my Brompton, originally bought for commuting, for environmentally friendly local trips. The significant advantage of the Brompton is that you don't have to leave it outside shops\doctor etc to be nicked, it folds real small and rolls around so...

You are a mine of information Bonzo. Love the detail of your posts. Your uploaded image does not open for me, by the way. I remember buying a second hand chromoly steel bike from a shop, probably forty years ago with the Tsunoda label. I think I paid £40 for it . It was a really nice bike by my...

The New Brompton G Line Electric

The Brompton frame is very clever, I seem to remember it is a blend of different steels both chromoly and high tensile steel parts to provide exactly the ride characteristics they want and is only possible through brazing rather than welding as brazing allows different metals to be combined...

The wheel rims are aluminium. The stem and bars are steel, and the rack is steel. Most of the weight is in the frame. You could probably save about 2kg by replacing the rack, bars and the bars folding mechanism with aluminium ones, and maybe another kg from the cranks and pedals, and a bit more...

The New Brompton G Line Electric

Agreed. And I doubt the British workers at Brompton would be prepared to take a massive pay cut to make the bikes cheaper.

@Bonzo Banana Interested in your remarks here Bonzo. I have both the Argos folder and a standard 3 speed Brompton that I have owned for about 12 years. While I really like my little Argos bike and have ridden it now just over 230 miles grinning all the way - it is certainly no Brompton - no...

I wouldn't say the price is bonkers, for a European made product it feels reasonable and no worse in fact actually better value than some mainland Europe alternatives however probably like you I'm spoilt by the Chinese suppressed currency meaning exports are hugely under-priced. If I can buy a...

The New Brompton G Line Electric

Crap by all accounts, but the hub gear OLDs suggest rear dropouts are likely 135mm (haven't measured), unlike Bromptons, which might be of interest to rear hub motor inclinator types. Yes I said they were: £3.5K is totally bonkers! It's only a steel framed hub motored folding bike with a...

...to have suspension at the rear where most of the riders weight is. Also I found out shortly after posting my previous comment that the Brompton G line electric model has a 4 speed geared hub incorporated into the motor hub so different to the standard G line. This gives the standard G Line...

My Dahon's rims can (made for Tern, sold by CH Whites), but it'd be a tight squeeze at best with the existing mudguards, which is one reason why I haven't fitted 2.125" Schwalbe Big Ben Plus yet. The other reason being Marathon Plus don't seem to wear out.

The New Brompton G Line Electric

The new Brompton looks lovely and I've followed some of the snippets of info that has been released along the way about the prototype model. Personally I wouldn't want the Alfine hub gears I would rather have the gearing arrangement of the original Brompton which is more bomb proof I think. The...

They're the gear and brake cables. The electric cables run through the frame.
