    Can I bodge it ?

Being curious, what I would like to know is how you managed to get a LH threaded stud into a RH threaded hole. Did you use that essential tool, a 4lb "spanner"?

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

It may be of interest that one 50 Cycles employee has stated that the warranty on a replacement motor is not 2 years from supply and fit as I would expect but runs from that date of purchase of the bike. I happen to think that he's wrong and I hope that my motor doesn't show any of the signs...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

That is also my understanding of the law. A manufacturers warranty or a dealers warranty cannot remove any rights enshrined in consumer law. Probably mean a trip to the Small Claims Court though :(

The bike hasn't been delivered yet so I haven't had time to tinker. Will know more next week.

Fortunately I have got the fully auto hub which obviates the need to change manually, although I found that I had to select manual to get the slightly lower gear that is available in manual in order to get up Park Street.

Thanks for this information. I will have to wait for trying the bike on my local hills before deciding on whether to change the rear sprocket. I don't suppose it will be possible to change the controller now that the sale has gone through, even if the seller was amenable.

Can you elaborate on the upgraded controller? I was contemplating haveing the rear sprocket changed in order to make going uphill easier but then I was told that this would affect the higher gears as well. I keep hearing that there is no difference between the 250w and the 350w motors and the...

    Kalkhoff vs KTM

Well, this thread has, like so many, before been well and truly hijacked! I have now bought a bike, not so much on the various merits and demerits of Kalkhoff vs KTM but simply because one of the agents did not bother to telephone me with the answers to questions that I had asked. In my...

    Kalkhoff vs KTM

I am looking at a "frumpy" bike, specifically the Kalkhoff Ergo with an Impulse 2/NuVinci i360 combination and the KTM Amparo XL with a Panasonic/Nexus 8 combination. Haibike don't seem to do mant "frumpy" bikes.

    Kalkhoff vs KTM

Opinions sought on the relative overall build quality/reliability of these two marques. I am aware of Impulse 2 "clacking issues", any others?
