Alien Aurora - I'm starting an Alien family!

Ah, thanks for the detailed reply! Now I have my weekends work lined up for me :D Are there any special tools I should have ready for the work on the motor? And also is there a specific grease I should use, like Mintex Ceratek? Hooked up a speedometer to the bike today, managed 20-21mph...

Alien Aurora - I'm starting an Alien family!

Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping it doesn't get worse, for now it's only if I linger on slightly opening the throttle. If I open it quick enough, it settles into the very silent hum that you are describing, with just a tiny squeak as it starts. Used the bike for the first time to work this...

Alien Aurora - I'm starting an Alien family!

So I've managed to do some work on the Aurora. - handlebars set properly, there was dirt in the moving parts and they were loose. Cleaned and tightened, now its perfect. - Seatpost still has a bit of radial play, but after tightening the suspension bits up which were loose, its much improved...

Don't mind the hijack hehehe... interesting stuff - lots to learn! Will take some pics of the bike and the components suggested on the thread and post if this weekend. Thanks for all the hints, want to get it to its best running condition! I have 2 battery packs with the bike, one is a dud and...

Alien Aurora - I'm starting an Alien family!

After being very happy with my Alien Pulsar folder, I have been on the lookout for an Aurora second hand for a while. Finally found one and picked it up on the weekend :D Got a good deal - travelled over 200miles to collect! Haven't had a chance to check it out in detail, but my initial...

Hi - new and need advice on a potential new purchase....

Thanks, that is a very helpful bit of history there! I think the general feeling is that its not worth the risk. I have to say after reading that, I tend to agree... I like my Alien Pulsar, and would really like to stay with Alien and buy the Aurora, but I'm stuck financially at around £700...

Yes it does look very similar! Been using mine to work and back for a while, lots of fun passing the sportier cycles on the long mild hills... :-)

Hi - new and need advice on a potential new purchase....

I have the same apprehension, its stock from a bankrupt shop that has closed down. The bike is fully tested and seems ok though. Just wondering what make it was before it was "debranded". So that I can still buy spares if needed in future.

Hi - new and need advice on a potential new purchase....

The bike in the link seems a bit of a lower spec (24v vs 36v, and no off-road option), and the frame appears a bit different as well. Seems a good deal if thats the spec someone is after, but I am going to use the bike on private land as well, so would like the unrestricted option...

Hi - new and need advice on a potential new purchase....

Hi everyone... been reading this very helpful forum for a while, but new to posting... I have had an Alien Pulsar (folding electric) for a while, and would now like to get a full size ebike. I have been offered this one and wondering if it is worth it for £650? It has a 36V 13A lithium...
