    More Seizures

One of the bikes seized above has no chain or freewheel. Is it a front hub motor fitted to the rear ? Also I cant see a rear brake. I suppose with that big motor, its possible that there is some type of regenerative braking on the rear?

    Woosh Revisiting my first conversion

There is normally a small difference between the 7 and 8 speed, with 7 speed 5mm c/c and 8 speed 4.8mm c/c (shimano) which can be a problem/cause unreliable indexing/having to sometimes click up twice and back once when changing . https://www.sheldonbrown.com/cribsheet-spacing.html There is a...

    More Seizures

Its a good question. They seem to have treated them differently and there were two different offenses reported. The e bike which 'has been modified to go at a higher speed is illegal and would be classed as a Category A motor vehicle, meaning it requires the driver to have a license, helmet...

    For Sale Bargains

Picture below of BB/rear chainstays . Those big circles are unusual and I think would get in the way/ruin the chainline, so you would need to carefully measure.

    For Sale Bargains

The first thing I always look at is the rear dropout. and just looking closely, I wonder would it take a rear hub motor ?

Are the KT controllers slightly pessimistic as far as battery level ?

The advice above comes from the German forum. You could try it out to see does it work .

Are the KT controllers slightly pessimistic as far as battery level ?

One thing I can recall for certain is that the LVC voltage setting (C12) also has a bearing. In my case its set to the default value of 30v. I can remember setting it higher once to 31V and this scaled up all the other levels on the display. My battery normally starts to show empty at around...

Are the KT controllers slightly pessimistic as far as battery level ?

You need to adjust your P5 setting. There is a formula that says the voltage when the last bar disappears on your LCD is something like LVC voltage setting + (P5 setting/3.77) but I have never found this really helpful. I think I set P5 =12 for mine (36V battery) but its not something I worry...

Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive

I dont think its necessary. It would be a full time job trying to stop them from falling off. But the guy below tried it. https://talesontwowheels.com/2021/03/14/bafang-mid-motor-multiple-speed-magnets/

Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive

The hub motor setup also uses the motor itself to measure the speed as the motor speed signal has a fixed reduction ratio to the wheel and is much faster. (e.g. by 88 or 100 times.) I think this signal is used for the 25Km/hr cut off as I was getting a wrong cut off speed on a hub and I fixed...

Setting a speed limit on bafang mid drive

I notice that both the tsdz/vlcd5 and the kt controller hub setup has the facility to fit six magnets on the wheel or in the hubs. ( I am not familar with the Bafang) I notice that with the single magnet setup , there is a delay/lag with the speedo showing the correct speed but to some extent...
