    Easier Gear Shifter

I have 48/38/28 front and 11-32 8speed rear. It serves me very well. Did a ride yesterday where I took a 'I wonder where that goes?' local lane. It ended with a very steep, long climb. Despite being in gears 1 and 1, I was down to 5mph and had to stop to give my lungs, legs and controller a...

    Easier Gear Shifter

Thanks for the offer Raboa but I think that's pretty much the type I have. Going down to smaller cogs is not a problem as this is just spring release. However going from 1-2 or 2-3 is where the pain occurs, as this is using the thumb to press against the sprimg tension to move the derailleur...

    Easier Gear Shifter

I don't know, it's hard to tell from photos. What i need is a shifter that doesn't need me to to push heavily with my thumb, that's what's causing the pain.

    Easier Gear Shifter

Ok. For clarity it's the left shifter I'm concerned with. That's a 3 speed for thr front deraileur, which I need around here 'cos there are some wicked hills. Just been out on some trying out the repositioning of the trigger shift I was trying. Was better but still caught me a few times...

    Easier Gear Shifter

Thanks Guerney for the cling film tip. I was assuming that twist grip changers didn't work vey well as people seem to dump them readily.

    Easier Gear Shifter

As I progress further into old gitness, I am suffering arthritic pain in my left thumb. This is making going up the gears on my front (left) changer very painful. I seem to remember I once had a changer that was finger pull on both triggers, rather than thumb push on both. I've tried looking...

    Help! Freewheel axle

Finally got round to taking the back wheel out and measured the dropouts. Turns out it's 137mm, Strangely the motor went back in with no fuss:cool: Still, at least I know what I need to get now.

    Help! Freewheel axle

Unfortunately i live in a small terraced house, so no room as the bikes have to come through the house. But also it's that power transfer line which comes up the leg, through the hip and lower spine into the seat. That's a lot of load on the hip joint that seemed to also affect the sacral and...

    Help! Freewheel axle

Just trying to use what parts I have. I am probably going to loose a lot of money (a lot for me) when selling this. I bought it thinking it would relieve the neck and shoulder strain I get sometimes. Fitting swept back riser bars has helped a lot but it still occurs. Sure enough the recumbent...

    Help! Freewheel axle

Thanks Saneagle It's a bolt on disc wheel. The bike came to me with Dillenger rear hub, I fitted the AKM. So, as far as I know, it's a 145mm. It's a full sus recumbent with 26" rear wheel, so the chainstay and down tube ( though it's only around 30degrees to the chain stay), are quite short...

    Help! Freewheel axle

Thanks Sturmey. I notoce it says 135mm OLN (I don't know what OLN means. My dropouts are 145mm (I know 'cos I fitted the AKM motor), will this wheel fit?

    Help! Freewheel axle

I have a recumbent that I need to sell. it currently has an AKM rear hub but I want to return it to analogue to sell it. So I am looking for a freewheel (7 speed) hub, so I can build a 26" wheel around it, to return the bike to standaed for sale. Every time I search for freewheel hubs I am...

    Torque Arms.

Go to the Hammer bike site. I'm fairly sure they do a 14mm one. In fact, here it is: https://www.hammer-ebikes.com/store/p_2406488/heavy-duty-14x10mm-rear-torque-arm
