Dear all,
A bit of a newbie question here again I'm afraid.

I want to pop in a watt meter temporarily between battery & controller as although I have the LCD3 that shows power, I soldered the shunt so it no longer shows the correct amount! The kit came pre-wired with Anderson powerpoles for the battery & power lead to controller.

(Battery is the 36V 20Ah shrink wrap http://www.bmsbattery.com/36v/445-36v-15ah-lithium-ion-electric-bicycle-battery-pack.html)

Anyone have an idea if I should be buying 30A rated Anderson Powerpoles or 45A?

And is this the best UK supplier of such connectors?

I'm hoping to use Hurricane's handy guide to how to do it without buying an expensive crimper from here:

Many thanks,
Phil

I used 30a ones too and followed this video on how to solder.

d8veh, do you mean that you prefer to solder the battery direct to controller and not have connectors at all, or do you mean that you prefer to solder connectors on rather than crimping?
I do have to remove the battery to charge at work so will have to have connectors on it, but was interested if this was a comment on crimp vs solder.

I meant that if Ihave a connector, I prefer to solder it, but you raise a good point. Do you need a connector if the battery is nearby?

Iy can be a lot neater to solder your battery wire direct to the controller pcb, or you can save a lot of hassle by cutting off the connector on the controller and soldering the battery wires. If you ever have to replace the controller, which is unlikely, you can always cut or unsolder the wires. Have a look on what I did on Benji's Raleigh Shopper.

You want to wire in a wattmeter so you need connectors. In that case, I'd solder them
