Italjet, Italian manufacturer of motorcycles since 1959, launched the UK arrival of their new electric bike range at this year’s Motorcycle Trade Expo.
Italjet has launched three retro-styled models, the Ascot, Diablone and Angel, all designed and built in Italy.
Lewis Ashforth of Italjet UK told Pedelecs the “cruiser styled” e-bikes have had “very positive reactions from dealers and general public so far…with their eye-catching, unique design.”
The company plan to attend events across the country throughout the year to showcase the bikes to the UK electric bike market.
Stocked by Italjet UK, the Ascot retails for £3,200 and Diablone £2,400. Mr Ashforth commented that the Angel model, retailing at £2300, “is the same as the Diablone but with smaller wheels and mudguards, and is particularly aimed at the female market”.
Weighing 30Kg apiece, the 250w e-bikes sport Brooks saddles, leather handlebar grips and NuVinci transmission systems.
Mr Ashforth sees the Italjet e-bikes appealing to a particular, design-conscious mindset, saying: “We are hoping to aim the cycles in the market alongside motorcycles – or unique stores – with perhaps more middle-aged customers that have disposable income to enjoy, rather than the everyday commuter. These are unique bikes that I think will be used more as an accessory, or for leisurely ride, than an everyday commuter to and from work.
