The Electric Bicycle Network (EBN) is an organization that offers electric bike hire throughout some of the UK’s most stunning tourist areas.
The idea is that the e-bikes get people out of their cars and into a saddle to enjoy our beautiful countryside; the end result is less pollution and the ability to take in more of the scenery with the subtle yet powerful assistance of the bike’s motor. Whether you want to reach corners of our countryside where cars can’t go (ask the hire network about recommended routes) or whether ordinarily you wouldn’t feel fit enough to tackle the hillier regions, mean just about everyone can get on their bike.
So far EBN offers networks in the following areas:
- Cairngorms
- Chilterns
- Dee Valley
- Devon
- Forest of Bowland
- Lake District
- Peak District
- South Downs
- Yorkshire Dales
EBN has partnered up with businesses in these tourist areas to offer bike hire and charge point for the e-bike’s battery just where you need them – at hotels, attractions, coffee stops and gift shops. Costs vary according to the hire point, but an average hire price is approximately £10 – £20 for a half-day, £20 – £35 for a full day at the time of writing.
The e-bikes are easy to operate, lots of fun to ride and you choose how much you want the bike to assist you; with the hard work taken out of getting around you can go further without breaking into a sweat.
