I married a KU 60 self learner universal controller to a direct motor (Golden HBM, a slightly more torquey 408 clone) Works well but I was told that I could increase the amps through this motor without harm. I cannot now find either a KU 90 or 60. could anyone reccomend another self learning controller.
I read that internally all the Wuxi controllers are similar BUT I originally bought the KU 60 to run a Q100, this it could not do, as I was told its frequency was too low. So I want to avoid the reverse potential problem marrying a modern controller to an old direct motor. Hoping to go from 15A max to about 20/22A keeping the 36v nom for the moment. Anyone remember the max safe amps for a 408 or similar? In those days I did not have the batts to go above 15A

The Greenbikekit.com ones are supposed to be good. The KU93 from BMSBattery also has self-learning. All these controllers do it fully automatcally, you don't have to do the procedure yourself anymore.

Another thing you can do is solder about 1/3 of the shunt in your controller, which should take it up to about 20A. I've done that to most of my 6 FET controllers and never had one blow or overheat.

Thanks, think I will go with the Greenbikekit Con91 as I have a Con61 on another motor, it has a speed limit wire - this limits frequency? as the full amps are still available even with the limited speed. I did up it from 12 to 15A
with the shunt solder. I found ebikelife were selling 6 fet controllers @ 17A, & 9 fet ones @ 19A, so guess he is adding solder to the std 6 fet model. I think there must be some leeway as the small controller has to work also in much hotter climates in std guise
