Well I didn’t and I’m happy with my Crossfuse. The extra stuff that the Raleigh had did not seem worth the extra money. And the Raleigh didn’t look as cool

As a Cube fan, I'd be looking at the cube cross hybrid one 500
the 500 battery will give you more range than the two bikes you mentioned
image.jpeg
RRP £1799 but I've seen them advertised for less than £1600. As the winter is aproching Bike sales will start to drop off and a good deal could be had.

Hi
Please can you give me a link to the bike you mention as I cannot find this at this price.
I have not seen or tried a cube. Would it be good on steep hills and mainly roads. Occasional off toad trails.

That is a good price and I must admit the integrated battery makes the cube look even cooler than my Crossfuse. I have been happy with Halfords though

I didn't research this model, just googled the name and this poped up.

"OFF-ROAD" means different things to different folks,
personally I have the cube acid one 500 and ride 75/80% road 20/25% off-road, some trails very tough in places, one bridalway I road yesterday was both V steep and V bumpy, it would even have been difficult on foot

"OFF-ROAD" For some people is no more than a dusty flat farm track

jayjay,

Would you pay £500 more for the Raleigh Grand Tour over Halfords Crossfuse - both with Active Line Plus?

Personally, no.

On price it would appear to be a straight fight between the discounted Crossfuse and the Oxygen S-Cross ST.

£1600 less any discount via British Cycling etc:

https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/electric-bikes/carrera-crossfuse-womens-electric-hybrid-bike-17-19-frames

£24 membership would give you a net discount of (1600-160 + 24) =£1464

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/article/halfords-discounts

http://www.coachmag.co.uk/electric-bikes/7494/carrera-crossfuse-electric-bike-review

£2150:
https://www.raleigh.co.uk/motus-grand-tour-low-step-23033

http://ebiketips.road.cc/content/reviews/electric-city-bikes/raleigh-motus-grand-tour-1674

£1529 for the Cube Cross Hybrid One 500:

https://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/cube-cross-hybrid-one-500-2018-electric-bike.html

The above are all crank drive using the Bosch Active Line Plus motor (the Halfords website still incorrectly refers to Active Line) whereas the Oxygen S-Cross is rear hub drive.

£1399.99 for Oxygen S-Cross ST with13ah:
http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/e-bikes/s-cross-st

All the above are decent bikes and you have ridden most of them.
You are the one one that must make the final decision.

The Motus does have some higher spec components and extras which go some way to justify higher price but maybe not £500.
Deore gears, the shifting quality of these is world apart from entry level ones on other bikes. Gearing shifting is something you will do a lot of in hilly terrain.
Excellent full length mudguards, must for dry riding on wet roads. Cafe lock which should share battery key, until your've had one don't realise how useful they are.
Adjustable stem to allow you find ideal handlebar position.
Rack, lights, kickstands all musts for tourer or commuter.

If you are vertically challenged try smaller 26" wheel frames, they may surprise you.

Whatever you buy consider after sales support, hopefully you only be needing odd service and no warranty claims.

Most important of all make sure you do a decent test ride of 1-2hrs of which ever bike you choose.
