15kg is not that light, especially with only a 250Wh battery

If you used a hub motor (1.6kg akm74 or 2 kg akm100) + Woosh 360wh bag battery (1.8kg) and a few hundred grams for a controller and little lcd then you could do a kit for around 4kg or even slightly less

hub kits are usually if not always lighter than CD kits because the gearbox in CD kits are bigger and heavier for the same power.

So my DIY eBrompton is about 3Kg lighter, folds smaller, uses standard easily replaceable parts and cost around 1/3rd the price.

$7,500 for a heavy 15Kg bike is a lot.

What motor and battery do you use ?

I have two motor wheels, one bought from TOPBIKEKIT on Ali and another from a previous Swytch kit. Standard cables, inline brake sensor, KT controller, PAS and LCD4 display.

Battery is a custom build 10S1P of 21700 cells, although when I get round to it and change the front controller\battery bag I have a 10S2P of 21700 cells as an option for longer range.

Spare parts for Bromptons are readily available in just about every country in the World, lots of low cost alternative parts too.

I was thinking about how light you could make a 20" folder ebike - there was this on Ali Express but it was a carbon fibre frame and forks - would you need to change to steel forks to convert ?

Narrow tyres are a horrible ride on our roads, but you could convert a 7.7kg Dahon XX + your 4kg kit ≈ 11.7kg? AL6066 frame. Those tyres would have to be replaced with 1.75" at least, weight be damned.

How much extra do Bike Friday charge for mudguards? Judging by how people enthuse about their torque sensing Bosch ebikes, that firmware locked down to hell bike will be fun to ride... perhaps even as much fun and freeing as my cadence sensing legal 720W Bafang BBS01B mid-motored 20" wheeled folding bike, with the eye watering madly ludicrous $7,500 price paid marring the experience more than a lot. I'll stick with mine because it has more than twice the range, which only cost me £909 with mudguards (before lights and lollipop options).
