Strengths:
Just got this bike, my first pedelec. I've done nearly 100 miles on it in the past week. At well under £600, it's great value and I can't find anything significant to be disappointed about.
I am quite fit but some of the hills in West Yorkshire are really demoralising on a push bike. I marvel at how well this bike assists me when I switch down to second, or first for the steepest ones. I'm not even using the 'best for hills' controller, I'm using the 'best for distance' controller.
I've even been exploring some bridleways (some of which are in terrible condition) and I can confirm the bike lives up to what you'd expect from a hybrid.
Battery life claims of 30-40 hours seem quite accurate, I'm not disappointed with the range. I keep it in High pedal assistance mode pretty much constantly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Weaknesses:
Chain occasionally slips while pedalling, might need to have a proper look at it. Could even be normal bike behaviour, not much to compare it to since I haven't cycled an awful lot before. Or it might be my stepdad's fault from assembling it! I gave him £20 to take care of that for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:
Have had a few friendly enquiries about it while out and about! Electric bikes are a definite rarity in my area at the moment, hopefully that will change and more people will be encouraged to cycle in hilly West Yorkshire by the aid a pedelec can offer.
So my first impressions are very positive indeed, I'm struggling to see how bikes costing much more than this would be that much of an improvement.
