Hi all,

While playing around yesterday with the LCD control panel, I saw that it is possible to simply raise the pre set 25 km/h setting up to 40

Is this all that is keeping this thing legal?

Also, what are downsides of changing this setting (I left it at 25 for now)

TIA

That'sall you have to to to change the speed limit. The up-side of doing it is that it avoids the cutting in and out of the motor at 15mph, which I found a bit annoying. The down-side is that you lose a bit of range, but so what. You have a 15aH battery, so yo can still do 30 miles or more like that. As you go up through the gears, the torque at the back-wheel goes down, so the motor won't be wooshing you up to 40km/h. On the flat, about 20mph is the maximum; however, it can help you maintain a higher top speed if you like to pedal hard over 15mph.

The side to side movement on the saddle that you mentioned before comes from the sprung seat-pin. There's nothing you can do about it other than replace it with a fixed seat pin, but if you want real comfort, you can pay a lot more for one of these:
SUNTOUR NCX SP12 SUSPENSION SEAT POST ! NEW MODEL ! UNBELIEVABLE COMFORTABLE ! | eBay
or a bit less for one of these:
SUNTOUR NEX SUSPENSION SEAT POST ! UNBELIEVABLE COMFORTABLE ! YOU MUST TRY ! | eBay

Thanks for that. If it does not affect warranty or anything I will give it a go.

I think the seat thing is liveable with for now but will consider those if I need to later.

Make sure of the diameter of the seatpost - they vary. You can go smaller diameter with a shim inserted, but a larger diameter is (obviously) not going to fit in a narrower frame.

Technicaly you are then riding an uninsured moped without helmet or road tax or dvla registration etc.
but will that stop you ?
just be careful and dont do anything stupid to get noticed by the police.
