My Big Bear is not working and the Kingmeter LCD is showing "error 23". The power suddenly cut out in the middle of a ride and this "error 23" appeared. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be and how it can be fixed? Thanks.

Hello John,

Error 23 is usually caused by the motor cable not fully connected. Follow the motor cable from the motor shaft to the plug, about 8" from the motor shaft, you'll find the plug. Make sure the two arrows imprinted on both sides of the connector are lined up, push them in together.

For the full list of errors, download the LCD manual here:

http://wooshbikes.co.uk/manuals/King-Meter-J-LCD.pdf

The list of errors is on page 30.

If the problem is not resolved, please email support@wooshbikes.co.uk your phone number. One of us will call you back.

Thanks for your response. I had a look at the connector and the arrows were lined up fine. I pushed them in together firmly. It did not solve the problem unfortunately. Could it be that there is a loose connection elsewhere?

yes, the other end of the motor cable, inside the controller box, between battery and saddle. The motor cable terminates with three bullet connectors, blue, green and yellow wires. One of them may be loosened.
Are you OK with opening the box? If you need detailed instructions, Andy can send you some tomorrow.

I'll have a look in the controller box and see if one of the three connectors is loosened. I'm not sure of how to open the box so that would be great if Andy could send me some instructions. I'll send you a PM now with my email address that he can contact me at.

I was able to open the controller box tonight without needing the instructions that I had thought I'd need. I had a look at the three bullet connectors and it didn't look like any of them were broken or loose. What I did notice elsewhere in the controller box is that there were three very small wires together, two of which (a dark brown one and a grey one) led into a white plastic container that had three slots for three wires, but the third wire (a lighter brown one) had been broken/cut. It looked like this wire was supposed to go into the third slot. Do you think that could be the cause of the problem?

No, that wire is not connected. I'll make sure that Andy call you this morning when I see him.
Could you pull open the motor cable plug (the one with arrows), check the pins, then reconnect?

If reconnecting the joint connector doesn't work it might be worth checking the cable carefully as it enters the hub for any broken/cracked wire sheathing, you may have to slide the wire/plastic protector away. Re the phase bullet connectors worth pulling them apart to ensure they fit tightly.

Just an update to mention that the problem is now fixed. The bike needed a new controller, and Andy from Woosh sent me one which I was able to install to get the bike working again. I will return the faulty controller tomorrow.

Andy and his colleagues were extremely helpful in assisting me with this issue, and provided excellent and very prompt service. I am a very pleased customer :)
