December 14, 20169 yr At this price, you'd better hurry. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?secondhand At that price, I'd say that's a gift! Wouldn't this suit Andy88, the chap returning..(ed) to the UK, who needs a big, strong bike with lots of power? Tom
December 14, 20169 yr Author it probably would - he can even get himself a NuVinci hubgear with budget to spare. Andy88 won't be back to the UK before Feb, too late for this one, it has to go to make room for Christmas pressies I guess.
December 14, 20169 yr It's still really very flattering to see our basic frame design still in use after nearly ten years! Happy days. All the best, David
December 14, 20169 yr Of course it's our frame. We proved this without doubt ages ago. I don't have a problem to your using it though, as I say, I am flattered. Good colour choice too!! All the best David Edited December 14, 20169 yr by Wisper Bikes
December 14, 20169 yr Author That's just silly. Of course it's a generic frame, quite popular on e-bikes. We've discussed it many years ago. You may have modified it a little, put your label on it and claim it's yours. I do same, except I wouldn't claim it's ours.
December 14, 20169 yr Let's not go into this again, you may have hours and hours of free time but unfortunately I don't. Last time this came up, I provided then original drawings and challenged anyone to find any electric bike using this frame before we deigned and made the first one. Of course no one could. As I have said, I find it very flattering that people continue to use our frame design and even more so when they choose exactly the same colours as our bikes too! Instead of arguing, maybe you should just be grateful for all the hard work we put onto the original. I know many don't like the fact that were are pioneers in the market, but we can't help that. We are as always very pleased to be of assistance to you all. Kind regards David
December 14, 20169 yr Author David, I really don't know where you want to go with this, but as far as we are concerned, the copyright and tooling of the frame of the Big Bear belong to the frame factory. They are of course willing to make modifications for their customers on request, as they have done so for us on numerous times. Please refrain in the future from making baseless accusations.
December 14, 20169 yr Hi Trex, you completely misunderstand me! I am delighted that you feel our frame is so good that you want to use it especially as it's so old now, it just goes to show a classic design never gets old. I put a lot of effort into the design and am naturally pleased it is still being used, we stopped using it a few years ago. I have absolutely nothing against you guys. Please don't worry. I wish you every success. Kind regards David
December 14, 20169 yr Author David, after 5 minute search on google, I found this old e-bike from the City of Toronto that has a very similar frame as the Big Bear's: http://www1.toronto.ca/City%20Of%20Toronto/Transportation%20Services/Cycling/Images/pedelec.jpg this is the Woosh Sirocco 2 in 2012, that uses the same frame as the Big Bear (2013): http://wooshbikes.co.uk/sirocco2x/sirocco2-right-side-800.jpg that is to confirm my point that we use a generic frame. Note the internal cable routing. Tony

December 14, 20169 yr Author a little more googling, I come across some old e-bikes with similar styling (convex toptube and convex downtube): circa 2005: from Canada, the e-cruiser http://www.ecodrive.ca/products_eb/e-cruiser.jpg even earlier than the e-cruiser, from Japan, the Giant Lite: http://www.electricbikesexperts.co.uk/images/giant_lite_electric_bike.jpg Nothing is really new under the sun. .
December 14, 20169 yr Author Is the 2017 Woosh BB significantly different to the 2016? Can you post pics please? Andy, only small changes, new better forged alloy crankset and lighter, more free-running pedals, thumb throttle, soft leather grips.
December 14, 20169 yr Author Yes. It's called the 03ZA frame, most Chinese factories can make them if you ask. We use the 03ZA frame since 2012 on the Woosh Sirocco2. It was originally painted with two layers, since 2013, 3 layers.

We first produced it in 2005, but good spot! All the best David
December 14, 20169 yr Me too! Such fun..... It is amazing though how some won't give credit to the pioneers in the industry. All the best David
December 14, 20169 yr Author if they were the same design in 2005, then who started manufacturing first? you or the factory that made the e-cruiser for the Canadian company?
December 14, 20169 yr if they were the same design in 2005, then who started manufacturing first? you or the factory that made the e-cruiser for the Canadian company? We did, did I mention that we had designed the frame? Until we had designed it, it did not exist. I do hope this helps to put aside your worries. Good design though, isn't it? We worked for many weeks on it. A bit old fashioned now though I must admit. Kind regards David
December 14, 20169 yr The Chinese are notorious for producing manufacturing over runs, not sure if its evident in the bike industry? I used to source transponders there, 5 interesting but not without event years.
December 14, 20169 yr Author I don't know all the facts, where the Wisper frame was made and when they were made. The fact remains that we are looking at variants, some details (the shape of the curves and the gusset of the frame) look sufficiently different that would require different toolsets to make. I would be very surprised if variants of David's design found its way to another factory so soon, in 2005. David, when did you start selling e-bikes?
December 14, 20169 yr The Chinese are notorious for producing manufacturing over runs, not sure if its evident in the bike industry? I used to source transponders there, 5 interesting but not without event years. You are bang on there Andy, in-fact the frame we designed and first manufactured back in 2005 was sold without our permission to another company who produced a copy bike on our frame. We are now the best of friends, but we did have some angry words at the time. Our biggest error was to pay £8,000 to "Made In China" search engine to show our new design and look for dealers world wide. Loads of Chinese factories thought we were the biggest seller and copied it. I think that's the reason there are so many copies on the market. Some are absolutely dreadful, the one Woosh are using is actually very good. It is nice to think that a frame we designed back in 2004/5 is now considered to be generic. It just goes to show we were on the right track. All the best, David Edited December 14, 20169 yr by Wisper Bikes
