Hi Killjoy,
If it's not too nosy, may I ask when your 905 is arriving and whether it's the city or the sport? I'm about to order one myself subject to a positive test ride tomorrow.

I am told that there won't be any Citys available for a while ~ I ordered a week ago and was told it would be about 4 weeks for a sports.

When I got mine I wanted a City, but they only had Sports available.

In the end Doug/Dave sold me a Sport with mudguards/lights/rack thrown in for the price of a City. I think they now refer to this setup as the "905 City S".

Arguably I ended up with a better bike because the Sport has lockable front suspension forks and a front disk brake. The only downside is the loss of the dynamo driven front light that you get on a "real" City (which is no great loss really).

If you had an Ag**** you could probably haveovertaken him
on a hill:cool:
I kind of don't think so :D
If there is anyone around my area who actually has an Agattu then I would love to see how it does compared to the Wisper?
I would also like to see one of these rare bikes :D
My money would be on the Wisper :)

Hi Mandy, Please excuse any typo as I still have the handlebar grips in my hand. :) I was so impressed with wisper that it was the only way I could let it go. :) Needless to say I put in an order the very next day.
Thank to everyone(especially poppy, burncycle, mandy) for all the help and advice. It was invaluable in getting me to make up my mind.

Wisper: Battery indicator.

I´d like to know your impressions on the reliability/accuracy of the battery indicator. Most of all, when does one know you have to turn around and return home, ha ha? Does the power noticibly diminish as the battery empties?

I regularly do 32 miles to work and back including 2762ft of ascents (see Wisper 905SE Test). The only time the bike started cutting out on me was when doing a further 10 miles on top of that; I started getting cut-outs going up hills on the last 2 miles, but still got reasonable assistance on the flat.

I've found the 3 battery lights behave consistently on each journey. They do flicker and change depending on the stress on the battery e.g. going up a steep hill, but in general I get Green for the 1st 8 miles, Amber for the 2nd 8 miles, and Red for the next 24 miles.

The power doesn't noticeably diminish as such, but the bike is definitely less "eager" on the 32nd mile than it was on the 1st mile.

As for knowing when to turn around, the only way to work that out is by gaining experience with the bike, the terrain you're riding on, and your own fitness. I'm now very confident about how far I can go, but I was very nervous about getting home when I first got the bike!

Elephants

Brilliant Seeker!!!!
I knew you would love it and you wouldn't want to take it back :D
It is one hell of a little mover and performer and you certainly will not be disappointed with the bike or the service from David and Doug either :)
Remember I bought mine from Germany and I have found the service and the bike A+++++
Please keep us posted how you get on when it arrives, mind you, you will probably be too busy riding it to post, lol! :D
Bet you can't wait!

Hi Poppy
Have you still not made your mind up? :D
Must admit I did much research on quite a few bikes before I decided on the Wisper SE, over several months really, so I understand you wanting to get just the right bike because none of the good one's are cheap.

My indicator/speedo is the old style one in blue and I really like it's quirkiness and intend to keep it. My one give's me a good indication of battery consumption and on my two moderately short but very steep hills it does not drop below half way, so the battery and motor perform very well. I am not keen on the speedo on the box but I also bought a wireless Cateye strada computer which was quite pricey but I loved the small sleek design of this little computer and looks great on the Wisper in black. :D

I guess you'd have to try the new Wiper SE and see if you can

Regards

I agree with Elephants and I guess you would just need to put it through it's paces regards your specific terrain. Maybe round and round and round the block a few times :D

I got lost on my first journey out and clocked up 20 miles in motor only mode as did not use pedelec mode then and it still had a quarter left on the indicator. Lke Elephan says it doesn't maybe have so much oomph when using a large amount of the battery consuption but ceratinly enough.

I charge my battery up after every journey as I don't believe it should drop below a certain level as it is not like a NIMH which really needs a complete discharge before charging.
I also try and keep the tyres pumped up to 60 psi as I notice a difference if they drop significantly lower, ie: 40 psi.
It all helps to get the best performance out of the bike as with any bike :)

Hi David

You are right we should get together for the Wisper 90se appreciation society :D
I have already laid a challenge on the table for the Agattu or Pro Connect owners but no serious takers at mo.
Eeeeeerm are you sure you haven't spent too much time in China "whi sung" ? Okay I know it is only a typo but couldn't resist :D
Best Regards
