Finding my (electric) wheels

Hello,

I've had my Wisper 806SE since December and absolutely love it, but, I keep picking up punctures in the rear tyre, had 5 so far, 3 in the last 6 weeks, so I'm looking to swap the rear tyre for something with hopefully a bit more puncture resistance. I'm wondering if these tyres will be suitable for the Wisper: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/schwalbe-marathon-plus-20-bike-tyre-smartguard/rp-prod24762 as they are 20 x 1.75 rather than the 20 x 1.95 tyres which came fitted? The rims on the bike are 20” x 1.5” if that helps.

Thanks very much for any help you can provide, I have no real idea what I'm looking for!

Martyn.

You might want to run your hand around the inside of the tyre, to check for thorns still "hidden" in the trad, that are only apparent when the inner tub is blown up and the tyre is stretched. I had one like that years ago, also on a rear tyre! Very annoying!
Always mark the place where the valve is on the tyre before starting, then using the hole in the innertube, to make a second mark on the outside of the tyre, and search that area inside most carefully...Turning the tyre inside out for searching, may help finding it...
An armored tyre plus maybe that horrible sticky stuff in the tube might help...Years ago I had a similar problems in a local forest from thorns....I learned how to repair it without removing the rear wheel....
I have a friend who uses a worn out tyre, by cutting off most of the sidewalls, and inserts the left over tread part between the inside of the tyre, and the tube, to increase the distance between the tyre's outside and the tube for nails and thorns....apparently that works well, but sounds fiddly.
Adding small spots of glue to hold it in place might be a help....
I might do it on a brand new tyre sometime, as I will have the old one handy to cut up!!
regards
Andy

I have schwalbe marathons on my bike and they haven't had a puncture since - not cheap but seem to be worth it.

There - look what you've done now - made me tempt fate - I'll be walking back with a double puncture this afternoon!:)
