Help! Wiring of electric hub?

Hello. I own 2x Powabykes and also a Draisin tricycle. The latter I want to install an electric front wheel, which I have, but am not sure of wiring pinouts. It is an "Octopus" (I presume brushless) hub and uses a Julet connector with three wires, Green, Blue and Yellow. I think it is 24volts. Any help/advice will be much appreciated. Thanks, Ian.

The hub is an older style brushless hub, it is an unsensored hub. The three phase are std and if the motor runs roughly or backwards one simply swaps the wire sequence if colour to colour sequencing doesn't work.

Thank you for your comments. I'm new to the technicalities of electric bikes. "Unsensored"; does this mean it doesn't need any kind of device (Hall?) to provide motor only or pedal assist. You just switch on and go with no speed control? "Std three phase"; Why three wires? I can imagine Pos and Neg, but the third? Are you saying that one simply swaps wires to the battery until the motor works, with no damage being caused if wrongly connected? Sorry for my ignorance of these points/descriptions. Ian

Ok so a totall newbie to brushless motors.
The hub has to go thru a motor controller , the three phases connecting to the same colour phase connections (in most cases). Battery power is supplied to the motor controller and not direct to the motor.
The hub is unsensored so means it's operation will be a little louder then a Hall sensored hub.
Motor controller will have options to connect PAS and sometimes throttle, also one can fit a wheel speed magnet for a lcd display.
A good controller system is in the region of £100 .

Do you have the motor cable extender ?

Bob Jones is credited with drawing this helpful diagram that shows basic older e-bike wiring (without a display). What Neal is saying is that "unsensored" means you don't have the "signal wires" shown here, just the "power wires"... but you still need a controller.

Thanks for everyone's help and advice, especially the wiring diagram from Cyclebuddy. I have at least one controller in the depths of my garage. It may not work, but worth trying! I don't know yet whether my hub is ok and not u/s! Must the controller match the hub voltage or will any controller do? Many thanks.

The controller voltage needs to be rated for 24v to match the battery, the hub itself can run at a higher voltage .
