Will thicker wire be better?

Hi, I purchased a anderson to anderson 175a wire so I have a little more length for my battery and when I recived it its very fat wire like 5x thicker than what's on the battery discharge lol
I've stripped the wire on my battery and connected the big anderson connector to it and it seems like I have more power the bike accelerates noticeably quicker than before, is this supposed to happen and will it cause the thiner wire that's connected inside the battery to burn out? Thanks.

When you run at higher currents, you get voltage drop in thin wires. Thicker wire just means more efficiency, so won't do any harm.
