Why are Cyclamatic owners deserting the brand?

There appears to be an awful lot of Cyclamatic bikes being sold on eBay at the moment, just at the height of some lovely British Summer weather.
Wonder why, as they are a good looking, reliable bike, for what I call picnic rides.

Cyclamatic Bikes being sold on by cruel, heartless owners

As my first ever electric bike, Cyclamatics will always have a place in my heart and I probably would still have mine, if I hadn't literally modded it to death :p

They tend to be first time buys, and in my experience newcomers to e-biking tend to expect far more than most e-bikes can reasonably deliver. We've all seen the newby posts in here reading something like, "want an e-bike that will carry my huge weight up steep hills without me helping when I feel tired".

So they often stop using the new purchase when it disappoints. But then a burst of very fine weather like that we've been experiencing can stimulate the desire to ride, in turn inspiring them to sell the disappointing one to buy something more powerful.

That's my guess, supported by the fact that second e-bikes are invariably much more powerful than the first buy.

Think yer right flecc. There's been a few times when I've been poised over the purchase button on SportsHQ website, to buy their black version.
Nostalgia says yes, but common sense says no.
Like the time I bought an old Sinclair Spectrum, just to play Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy and Jetpac.
Well that lasted half a day, before I thought, wow not as good as I remember as a young lad

Remember kids, don't let nostalgia get the better of you ;)

You're not kidding, I was pretty hot on chuckie egg.

I wouldn't want to go back to a Cyclamatic either.

From one of those eBay auctions:

Battery still [holds charge] and will do a min of 8 km on its own based on weight
8km! I think I might buy one.
