Which speed for which distance

Hi all,

I've posted before on this forum but now i wanna take action:

I have bought an electrical foldable bike with a 250W motor with a 36V/ 12Ah battery. It is limited to 25kmh. I know how to change the controller so more current goes to the motor. Now my question, what would be the max speed with a 36V/12Ah battery? I know i have to change the controller (or solder more to the variable resistance) , but i was wondering, not to void the warrant, where can i buy a controller (one with the same dimensions as the one i have now), which would permit to go faster than the 25kmh? How fast can you go with a 250W motor? I don't want crazy speeds, but 5-10kmh faster than the 25kmh now (I sometimes have to do distances of 25km) would be nice.

With a new controller, would changing of the battery to 48V be necessary too? I have no problems to spend a few hundred €on this upgrade, as long as it would make me go a bit faster.

Kind regards, and hope to learn a few things!

It's impossible to answer your questions unless we know what you've got. How can we say where to get a controller the same size if you don't tell us the size of the one you already have. The same with the motor you have, is it restricted or not? How fast does it spin?

Well i thought i could look up the size of the controller later if i have a starting point on where they sell good controllers (found some on ebay but not sure if the quality of those is good). I don't know if the motor is restricted or how fast it is spinning, can you give me a link how i can check this? This is not a bike i build myself, but one i bought like this.

You put a cycle computer on the motor wheel, lift the wheel off the ground and spin itvup with the throttle or pedal. The speed it spins is its no-load speed. If there's a significant difference in the speed with a fully charged battery compared with an empty one, it's not restricted.

If you want to change anything, it's important to know the no-load unrestricted speed of the motor.

Ok, i ordered this and I'll install it as soon as it arrives. I'll look some up more info on the no load unrestricted speed. Are there guidelines specific to go to after knowing the no load unrestricted speed? I guess the next step is looking at the controller/battery?
