Having resurrected the ebike with a few local 2 mile runs the battery has died - must be 6 or 7 years old and neglected for the last couple of years. So, buy a new battery. Problem: how do I decide the polarity (hope that's the correct word) of the bike? I have a faded memory of having changed the setting of the thing the battery plugs into for some long forgotten reason. How do I determine what the state is (and what would happen if I install a new battery with opposite polarity? At the age of 84.25yrs and rarely trusted with sharp tools during that time ... Help!

Wrong polarity will blow the controller and possibly the battery fuse.

The controller usuall has power wires +Red & - Black.

Back on the road at last! Juicy rides again! Due to the unlimited kindness and support of the Juicy Bike team we're back in action. The new battery now sits on a new baseplate and the new wires meet the old wiring via a new connector. The lights don't work and the handlebar display keeps its dark secrets but the wheels go round and the bike makes joyful progress. Battery lights will be obtained and anxious glances will be cast at the charge indicator on the top of the battery (anxious because I'm colour blind) but we're under weigh again. Bob Wales would be proud. We can't Womble round sub-Saharan Africa anymore but Cheshire is almost as welcoming, or it will be, post-plague. Thanks to all who helped - buy Juicy! :)
