Hi all, new here - looking for some advice. I have a bafang 750w mid drive conversion, with a 52v 13ah battery. Last weekend it just died on me with the slightest bit of load from a tiny incline. Everything was charged and reading as good to go on the controller, but the whole system just kept shutting down. I was able to turn the battery off and on again to bring the screen back up, but every time I set off, nada. Very disappointing. I did flirt with the idea of 'upgrading' my ride via the cycle to work scheme and tried a few 'off the peg' ebikes, the sales people where all thrilled with their bikes and looked eagerly at me as I came back from one underwhelming test ride after another. Compared to what I'm used to I found everything to be very subtle and not nearly as fun to ride, so I've committed to bringing mine back to life and enjoying a decent boost of power when needed.
Given my battery is over 3 years old and (my mistake) probably hasn't been stored/charged correctly for storage, I think its the battery on the fritz. Now I'm looking to buy a replacement but I'm a bit freaked out with battery fire horror stories, exploding chargers and melting cases. Finding an affordable reputable source feels like looking for a needle in a hay stack. There are so many dodgy Chinese imports badged as one thing but containing another, I'm not sure where to start. UPP and Hailong seem to be everywhere and around the same price point £250-£270 for 52v 13ah, but they're coming from China, or Germany, or 'UK warehouse' (imported), and the reviews are very mixed - some overheating stories, blowing fuses, significant lag, failure to fully charge, against others from the same source who are quite happy with there's. I'm a bit lost. I'd rather not blow my bike up / fry my system, or burn my house down! But, I need a new battery. Can anyone suggest reliable sources???
Thanks.
